engine swap

ok well as you all know gas is getting expensive and like im planning to get an engine swap for my car and im just wondering what kind of engine i can get that has great power but uses 87 octane, if you know please comment.

Mods: Wide body, lambo doors, drilled and slotted rotor front and rear, custom door panels, custom sub box with 2 12" Kenwood, custom racing seats and that is all right now.

D-series get the best gas milage of the stock motors. I think that the D-series is the only motor that was VTEC and SOHC. Everything else is DOHC and that means more power but less milage.

get a stock ls or stock b20 and call it a day there compression is low so they can handle 87 octain and they got some ok power don't waist your time on a single slam.

TKT is talking about a VTech Controller and it sounds like he wants to know what RPM to set his VTech to. It depends. The cam(s) are what determines what happens during VTech. FYI, what is happening is VTech, MyVech, VVT, there are a few others those are the ones that come to mind, but the idea is the same, there are twice as many lobes on the cam, low RPM lobes and high RPM lobes. They make cams that the lobes are almost the same, like you are in VTech all the time. I hear your car runs like a$$ in the lower RPM because the car was not made for that. Now for where to reset the VTec RPM point at. You should got to a shop that has a dyno, that way you can change it and see if you got more power, torque, or whp. Yes setting your VTech controller wrong can cause you to lose power.
