exhaust Advice?

ok so im looking for an exhaust, headers, cold air, and cams upgrade for me 96 sol. anyone know of any brands or types that worked especially well for them?

first of it's header, not headers. and what kind of sol do you have? b-series, or d-series. buy everything except the cams off of ebay. and do not go larger than 2.25 inches for your exhaust. brand names mean almost nothing for n/a hondas till you start talking mugen and hyatech. but that's liek 700 dollars for a header alone. are you going fo sound or power? if you have a d-series, don't waste your money and jsut boost it

well see thats what i'm not sure about i hava a 96 s that i picked up a couple weeks ago so im new to the honda game and im not really sure what engine i have

do you want to be fast or make it sound nice. and you only have one cam not two. it's a d15 sohc (single overhead cam). buildign your car n/a for power is pointless. it will cost you thousands of dollars to make it fast. either boost it or swap it if speed is your goal. if you just want it to sound nice just throw an intake and exhaust on it. i wouldn't waste my time with a header, it'll do nothing but make it sound raspy. go with a 2.25 inch twin loop style muffler. that way you'll sound nice and not like "a bee on pcp frantically masturbating in a tin can"

alright ya i kinda figured it would be expensive to make it fast, but ok and the exhausts im seeing on ebay for like $70-$150 would be a safe bet?

yes. they are exact replicas. make sure it's a catback and not an axle back and that it's for your model. i got my exhaust for my sr20det off of ebay and it was full stainless steel and 3 inches. 180 shipped. sounds better than that p.o.s. greddy i had on there

it's a brand name that's why. it's a piece of mandrel bent piping with a stainless steel muffler. nothing special. apexi is even worse. some of their shit is almost 500 dollars for the same performance gain as the 150 dollar exhaust you're gonna buy. hehe. do not go larger than 2.25 inches though. it'll be loud and won't scavenge enough downlow.

ok so what type intake should i get? and how much do think all this will run me? and do you think that about 200hp is achievable without a swap or boost?

No it's not achieveable if you have to ask. that will cost you thousands and thousands of dollars and it would be nearly unstreetable. just get any generic intake. it's just a piece of pipe and a filter. you do not need a 220 dollar aem intake to net you 1.3 whp. honestly i would just save up and boost your car. you can put together a kit for the price of buying name brand bolt-ons and make 2x's the hp.

get a compression and leakdown test performed. if it passes then yes you can do it. boost isn't bad for your motor like alot of idiots would have you believe.

tell me what's more stress on your motor. 7 psi to net you 80whp gain on your motor. or having to rev you motor to around 10k rpms to make any power? you have a d-series motor which is nice too boost. you could easily make 240whp with that thing and a nice tune. you'd spend 3x's the amount of money to keep it n/a and not even approach that kind of power.

n/a d-series is for two people

1. harcore d-series enthusiasts who realize the shortcomings and love the motor anyway

or

2. idiots who blindly want n/a because they have some lame belief that they actually think there is a benefit

umm 1700-2200 dollars to build install and tune your own kit. to make 200 whp with a d-series n/a will cost you about 6K easily and you'll have a shitty powerband on top of that.

cold air intake draw air from outside the engine bay but tend to suck in water if you drive throw huge puddles. sri intakes sit in the engine bay
