Rent or Borrow stock 93 Del Sol Air Intake System

Hey everyone!

I bought a 93 Si in great condition for stupid cheap. We're talking $650 cheap, and that's after the mechanic cleared it and said the motor was in great shape. It's a killer deal!

However, it's got this massive Spectre short ram intake on it. I just went to California smog check and the guy said it's illegal. Of course, I knew this, but I was just hoping it might pass.

Anyway, he said I needed the original intake or a CARB legal one in order to pass smog, and then I could just put the original Spectre back on after it passes. He called up a friend at a junkyard and they had a 93 Si intake that he would install for $180. However, since I don't plan on keeping the stock intake, I would like to save $180.

So is there anyone in SoCal who has their stock air intake system lying around and would let me rent/borrow it just to pass smog? I would only need it for a day, as my mechanic said it would clear no problem except for that intake.

Email me if you've got one! I would be eternally grateful!

joel (dot) stargazer (at) gmail.com

Thank you!

Whenever I needed to do this, I always went to Pick'n'pull and bought an intake for $30. Didn't matter what car it was for, their pricing is standardized. You just install it for the day, and then keep it for next time. Or just go buy a CARB legal intake. Cheapest ones (that I can think of) are from SF. They are the "dragon" brand of Weapon intakes. They boast that their stuff is 50 state legal. They are definitly cheap though (less than $180), and have the sticker for smog.
