Replacing distributor

Hey guys and gals,
I am new to the forums. My name is wells. The bolts that hold my distributor cap on broke off yesterday and I have had no luck using a screw extractor with them. I am starting to consider just replacing the entire distributor. I was wondering how big of a task this is and if I could do it or if I should leave it to a mechanic. I have basic level mechanic abilities.
Thanks for your help!
Wells

I've had to drill them out and use bolts with nuts.

it's not difficult to change the distributor!you will remove the 3 basic bolts on the chassis, but you need to remove the 3 bolts on the cap too because you need to remove the rotor inside the cap..

Really? That's all there is too it? I was planning on attempting to replace it myself untill I started reading this article: How to Replace A Distributor Without Going Crazy

It made it sound really difficult so I wound up just taking it in to the local garage. It's replaced now so I am good. Thanks for your help.
