rusting lower arms

I tooka look under the car to get an idea of how to install a rear anti-sway
bar, but it looks like I may have more immediate work to do. The rear lower
arms have alot of rust on them, but I don't know how much is really a
problem, or how to tell. Take a look:

That picture is of the left one, the right one doesn't look much better.

Do I need to do anything right away or does it look ok? Should I go ahead
with the sway bar install or forget that until I replace the control arms and whatever else is rusting?

thats not rare, but as far as affecting drivabilty, it really doesnt. unless the rust is so severe that metal pieces are in risk of being broken. however one thing i will go ahead and warn you about is the bolts you would need to undo to put the sway bar in. 1- if its never been unscrewed, those bolts are already going to be tight as shit. 2-even if they have been unscrewed, its still risky due to the amount of rust. you risk breaking them or stripping them. and even harder to remove if its never been done +rust

just letting you know that you potentially risk breaking off boltheads or screws in half. if you have good jackstands and some solid arms and a long breaker bar/strong 6 point grip/strip socket, seems ok. just be careful man.

use lots of lube i'd suggest PB Blaster or Kroil both are penetrating oils. and if the bolts look really bad i'd get new ones to be safe.

If you have the cash now would be a good time to upgrade to some new control arms.
