well i have been out of a car for almost a month now becasue i blew my engine. I have been searching everywhere and i can only find engines at junkyards for 450 and up. i also have the choice to relpace the bottom end for 275 but my head is still shot.
I finally found an engine for 500$ from a trusty friend that will let me take it apart and check it out, its a JDM d16zc complete with harness and computer. is that a good deal and i also was wondering if it would be good to boost. i have a garret t25 turbo setup that im gona have about 6-7 psi waitng to be put in. im still not sure if it worth it and if its a good engine to boost.
-Thanks

clutch setup for b16a3
well after adding short ram intake, msd wires, ngk iriduim plugs ebay headers high flow cat and ebay tsudo catback the clutch is starting to slip when i shift from 1st to second the clutch slips for about a second or two then it grabs and thats way too much lag for me. well I was thinking about getting a higher holding power than stock clutch with a xact streetlight fly wheel and maybe some kinda lsd (although i heard some b16's come with lsd) I read obx reviews bad and good but qaife is freaken expensive i just dont have that kinda money. I want to put everything in all at once so I dont have todo it again or should I just get the clutch kit with flywheel and skip the lsd I dont have that much power to the wheels but anything would be nice. only daily driving and maybe a few days at the track very rare though let me know what you guys would setup. under 700 is what im looking or right now maybe i could go to 1000 but most likely not

If your clutch is slipping with only those few bolt ons then it's going out anyway.
Just get a ACT stage 1 clutch kit

You're right. I think the d16z6 equivalent was just stamped ZC, but it had VTEC. It is usually referred to as the ZC VTEC engine.

Hey, I've got a '94 del sol. I'm about to do an engine swap up to a ls/VTEC. The only info I don't have is the best type/brand of brakes, springs, shocks etc to swap.
I'm upgrading from the non VTEC and I want to be sure that I don't kill myself with the added power.
Also, My primary driver is an '05 WRX. I love the way the seats in that car sit. are there any seats that will fit in the del sol that will sit about the same as those?
Thanks

93 Sol $2200 No Top, No Stereo, 174K miles
I found a 93 Del Sol locally for $2200, it hasn't got a top (was stolen), part of the center console is missing, and there is no stereo. Also it needs new headlights as the lenses are broken (vandalism). It has 174k miles on it, how many do you think are left. I just want it to be reliable. I'll probably sell it in a couple of months after I do some work to it, I'm just starting college so I don't have a lot of cash and need someone's opinion.
Thanks in advance
Ezra

New To forum looking for advice.
Hey guys, I'm new to the forum and to del sol ownership. Just picked up a 95si this summer and have loved it so far. Unfortunately its got some cosmetic issues. I'd like to replace the headlights with some aftermarket pairs (as the jdm one pieces are just out of my price range and im not sure they are the exact look i want.) Anyway my question is, does anyone have any opinions on the aftermarket one pieces you can pick up on ebay?
im looking at these ones specifically
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/93-96...34102671QQrdZ1
I was just curious if anyone knew anything about durability or fitment etc. They dont have a manufacturer and I know random ebay parts can be sortof cheap. Anyway anything you folks know would be great, thanks! :clap

custom sub setup...please help!
ok im really picky about my baby...duh. and i cant find any bass setups li like, or that will fit in my sol...but anyways since i blew my speakers out last week, i now HAVE TO GET SOME SOUND!
i was thinkin maybe id do it myself, but im torn between two ideas:
1 - do somethin i saw on here a while ago where the guy custom fabbed his subs into those lil back boxy thingys of his sol, or
2 - custom fab either 10's or 12's into the corners of my trunk, since i already have an amp right in the middle...
any ideas/suggestions?!?

which speakers did you blow? IMO get those replaced first, but as far as bass, are you lookin for competition type shit or just a little bump over stock that sounds good, and wont piss of your neighbors too bad?
if you want overkill, i'd recommend Kicker L7 solobaric, any size. if you have the power to make them go, they will make you deaf lol. ive witnessed a pair of L5 12's in the back of a jeep with 4000watts going to them and there is no comparison. theres really no wrong way to go with these.
for your average bass increase that sounds good but wont blow away other drivers, anything really. however, NOT Duals lol. but from 8-10-12 will be pretty good, how much power is that amp you have now making? just look for a sub with around the same RMS and peak power handling.
i typically prefer the trunk setup for the del sol for a few reasons:
-you can still put your targa in the trunk, and theres still a good bit of room for groceries and whatnot.
-easy to remove unless they are custom moulded(just the box) for trips and shit
-thieves cant see them from the outside, making you less of a target.
-no restrictions on seat travel
-not having to remove, or having access to your rear cargo boxes
some downsides i was considering:
-rattles your trunk/license plate
-the very slight increase in difficulty to wire it to the trunk(but it actually would be easier if your amp is already in the trunk)
-it may sound better in the cabin than the trunk
-in cabin does look cooler in my opinion.

welcome. as far as the headlights, thats up to you really. i like/prefer the stock ones. just for good fitment and i think they look better. theyre so cheap it wont hurt much to try them if you wish, just keep in mind they might not and the only difference would be looks. could try the junkyard for some stock ones. but thats really what you prefer.
please ask if you have any questions, technical or other. read the rules and stickies, there is TONS of information around.
