Hi...
I've been looking to buy a Del Sol for some time now and recently found one that I'm seriously thinking about. Wanted to get some opinions on what should really be looked at on it. It's a 93 automatic with 205,000 miles. Guy says that all that's wrong with it is that the a/c needs to be recharged. I don't really care about the air conditioner working as long as the car runs . Just wasn't sure with this type of mileage if there was anything in particular that we need to look at. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Unless you are tight on money, I would try to find one with less than 205k miles... also you should really go with a manual tranny, but that's your call...

Given the current situation with gas prices.....yeah, money is tight . As far as getting a manual tranny, I would much rather have an automatic, only because I drive 2 hours every day in stop and go traffic on the interstate. The car that I drive right now is a manual, and it gets pretty tiresome....so I planned on an automatic.

Well whatever works for you, man!
What model are you looking at? The S can get upwards of 40 mpg if you are looking for fuel economy...

The one that I found is an SI...
Any major problems that you know of that I should look at with the car, given the high miles?
Still pretty good mpg, and you get vtec.
As long as the car was taken care of by previous owners, the car should be mechanically in good shape. I would just expect the same things you see on every other car that has 200,000+ miles.

Might wanna have a mechanic look at it unless you can do some mechanicing yourself.
Timing belts need changed every 10 years at most.
I just had mine replaced - it was ready to pop.
Check for leaks from the targa top if it has one.
Check for rust in obvious places >> Trunk under the spare cover >> floorboards..
Check the oil
Check the spark plugs
Check for oil leaks
Check the lights for cracks and stuff - anything you find - negotiate with the seller to knock the cost of the repairs for those things off the price.

Alright, I'm looking to buy a Sol. What should I look for in one. Should I go for a vtec on or what? I really don't know much about them yet but I can't wait to learn.
I'm currently looking at buying a del sol. The thing is I'm not confident in the fact that it is not a scam. It's a 1994 Honda Del Sol Vtech engine turbo. Viper red with a white design on the sides. Nice white rims and a red/white interior to match. The guy says it gets up to 303 whp... he only wants $3600 for it. What do you guys think?
Mods: f22b swap/baer big brakes/tokico illumina suspension
