Transtop
I was wondering how much the transtop assembly weighs, since some of you guys have said that it can jam up. I figured that I am capable of pulling the top off and on by myself, and figured I could save some weight by pulling it out, just a random idea! any help, guys?

First, i think it weighs in the neighborhood of 50lbs. Second, I hope you realize that the transtop was only an option for JDM Sir and EDM VTI models, so the chances of you finding one with the transtop are VERY slim. Most people who are new to del sols ask about putting the transtop in, which is ridiculously difficult (if I'm not mistaken, it requires cutting the frame).

Yeah, I thought it was exlusive to the JDM models. Yeah, im a n00b when it somes to del Sols, and I am just trying to gain as much knowledge as I can about the model before I go out and buy one. Are there any sites that carry del Sol aftermarket parts? I looked at password, jhpusa, inlinefour, and I found very little, and I have noticed that there are quite a few sol owners on here, so I was wondering where you guys go for your stuff.

mostly exterior bits, nothing like kits or goofy hoods/fenders and all that, like carbon lip options, the OEM JDM side markers, prefferably with the fenders, and thin side mouldings, I'm just note sure if these parts exist, I know they do for civics and teggys and some accords and all, not sure about the sol. I basically wanna just update the exterior to as close to the JDM, or even the EDM version, as I can, and keep it subtle and clean. as far as interior, I wanna locate some EP3 Si seats (the alcantara with the red accents) and the new FG2 Si steering wheel, and if it will bolt up, or what boss if any, i will need.

You CAN'T remove the roof from a sol manually and leave it home and go for a ride.there are sensors which will beeb all the time.there's an extra ecu for the roof, and it should do the right steps or you will have problems

As far as I can remeber, if you leave the top at home it will just light up on the gauge cluster, the transtop is the only one that beeps if the roof/trunk is unlocked.
The transtop targa is like 3 times heavier than a S or SI top. You can always unplug the beeper, its on the left side behind the seat storage bin. (near the door open trigger switch). Im probably gonna put a small piece of dynamat over it to make it quieter.

well due to the fact that my tilter unit broke am thinking of finding new ways removing the targa without using the mechanism.(i ordered tilter gears to fix it).i am thinking putting a switch (on and Off),so it will stop the power from all the roof sensors etc.and do what ever you like with the targa roof manually.don't know if this could be done.
i will try that when i have time.how bout you kabooki?how do you use your targa?what are you planning to do so you avoid a lot of trouble?
I have already replaced my tilter unit gears. I also found that if you push on the targa while its lifting/lowering it takes the weight off the gears. According to my theory, it should really extend the life of the plastic gears since there is WAY less weight on them all the time.
