WHATS THE BEST TURBO?

I'm looking at buying a turbo for my honda del sol b16a which would be the best turbo to go with and how much hp is it going to add?

lol bro, you have to establish what you're going to use this for. roll racing or are you trying to generate boost throughout the powerband.

some turbo's are larger and have more of a spool (lag) time, which you could use to roll race, from like 60-140 mph. etc..

he should do research outside of the forum. if he's asking this broad kind of a question then a turbo is the least of his worries. i would call a performance shop and discuss with them you're needs and price range. to give you an idea of how broad that question is would be like me asking what tires does my car need.

All i'm going to do is give the car a little pep considering it is a stock d17 and doesn't have anything.i'm planning on putting a tenrai exhaust system and it has a real deep tone. But if i don't have anything to back that up then it does no good right. I don't plan on taking it to the strip and racing it for money, more or less just to race any punk on the street that thinks he can take me. I'm going to put a b16a engine in it and add the turbo i wanted to know which turbo would fit these needs and give me the most bang for the buck.

that's a horrible idea. the motor you have now is better for a budget boost build. why would you waste your money swapping a b16 into that chassis. b16's aren't even fast. then you'd be very limited with the boost you'd want to run. d-series are better for a daily boost build. b16's belong in cars under 2200 lbs

you should do some research. depends how you want to race your car. i use a t3/t4 turbo from garrett on my car and it works good for me.

Car: del sol 93 with B16a and tranny swap
Mods: cat-back, shortshifter, headers(4-1) by the end of the year im gonna boost

well why would you turbo the D of your going to swap... personally i would build up the D and then boost that.. it would be basically the best bang for your buck.. and i got a tenrai exhaust.. i think its pretty good.. it gets the job done and i dont have a turbo to back it up...

The only reason i'm not modifying the d17 is because i have heard that bolt ons and other type of mods don't work well with that engine.

yeah if you're doing an n/a build and all you're doign is i/h/e. but for daily driven boost the d-series is better than a b16. how well a motor does with n/a builds doesn't tell you anything about how it will react with boost. the d-series are bullet proof and have an ideal C/r for daily driven boost.you'll literally spend around 5-6.5 grand just buying swapping/tuning and turboing a b16 and you haven't even built it yet. besides vtec is bad for boost. the d-series will have a better tq/power curve than a peaky ass b16. power curve decides how fast your are not meaningless high hp dyno numbers
