Okay, so I messed up. I bought wheels with a center bore of 54mm. Too small for the Del Sol. So I have two options: Have them machined to fit. Or sell them and buy a different set. I really like the wheels I bought. Does anyone know a place in Missouri that will machine em for cheap? Has anyone here had wheels machined before? I've read some write ups and watched some videos on doing it yourself, but I just don't know if I'd trust it, being hub centric and all. Advise? Opinions? Info?
Mount the tires and balance them first. The lugs will keep the wheel centered on the car but most wheel balancers use a spindle through the center bore. So if its f'ed up they are difficult to align without some uncommon balancer attachments. Keep in mind that that will only help you until you need them balanced again but that'll probably not be until the tires wear out.

They're supposed to be hub centering. I know that you can "get by" with them centered on the lugs, but I've also read a lot of people complaining about vibrations or wobbles because they aren't using center bore rings for their aftermarket wheels with larger bore diameters (ie, the wheels are centered on the lugs). Am I exagerating the importance of the hub centric properties of a wheel?
It shouldn't be a problem but don't quote me on that if you have a little shimmy. My experience has usually been that the ring gives a rough center then the lugs pull it down tight. I can't say with certainty though since I almost exclusively work oem. I'd say just sell them and buy some others. Brand new you shouldn't take too big a hit on the resale. Better safe than sorry.

Hey, they're like a mini version of the acura TL optional chromes.
