when vtec kicks rpm's jumb up until 9 rpm or more!
Am a proud owner of a del sol sir.lately i had some problems with it.my rpm's gone crazy,my car was swiching off while i was driving, and there were a lot of stall problems.i had some problems like that before and when i changed the distributor coil everything was fine until now.so i desided to change the whole distributor.now everything works fine except one thing.when vtec kicks in my rpm's go crazy!it jumbs from 6-7 rpm to 9-9,5.when i change gear it goes to the right rpm like 5 and when vtec kicks the same shit is happening.any idea what might be?thanks
the whole distributor is aftermarket but brand new.i recently put a new set of spark wires (obx).i will check this in a few hours.hope that's the problem...

factory aftermarket, or msd I don't think its the spark plug wires
But the plug that connects the distributor to the engine harness (the one you unplugged to install the new distributor)
sorry for the confusion

Not sure, but the tach signal comes from the distributor (no other place), so I would start there
Also check your grounds.............there should be one on the valve cover, and one by the tranny. Honda's act funny when they aren't grounded good.
Wiring problems suck, so I feel your pain. Most the time they are solved by something extremely simple that was overlooked
