I dont think thats compressor surge guys. I think the correct term is "cavitation". compressor surge (really bad) happens when the turbo is "surged", such as running a high boost level with a BOV that isnt venting it. the compressor wheel is then spinning and producing boost that has no where to go, except make drag on the wheel. cavitation produces the rattle-snake like noise in conjunction with the open BOV. for a car to get cavitation (not harmful fyi) it usually needs a lot of hp, like around 500, and a large FMIC. I'm not familiar with the physics behind cavitation, but the large FMIC cooling the big amount of boost makes the noise when it is vented, largely because there are "cavities" inside the intercooler and the air is seeping back to the BOV. if it doesnt make too much sense, google that ish
