man! all you guys r right the show was bullshit! i dunno y the bastards who make these kind of shows can't take the time to really explain whut the hell is being done to the cars in the show, if it was up to me there would b every damm spec and upgrade instalation would b shown on there, no all the bs about the personality of the mechanics and shit it would juss b pure tunning and racing for the whole show.

right, thats what i didnt like. if they would had talked more on the subject of what they was doing to the car it would have been a better show. instead of talking about how the girl and her husband r falling off (which i think was stupid to) and talking about him and his GF. but the civic was bossted and spraying.
from few of the shots they showed of the motor (they showed more of them arguing or bullshiting) u could see the wastegat.

but my whole thing about it was, the girl might have had a chance. she f-ed up when she went showing off at the car meet and telling all her business. if she was really a track guy/girl she should have been hitting the back road, practicing her launches and stuff. u go from a 200hp car to a 300+ hp car, u need to practice, she wasnt use to the boost of power and thats where she f-ed up at the most.
but it was a ok show to me, just some bs-n in it, i would have like to see breakdowns of the car, what was getting put on and so on.

Yeah I agree with everyone the show was horrible. I also agree that they should've shown more of the work then just bang, bang, bang we're done modding.

You guys gotta remember this wasn't aimed towards then true tuners, but to the general public and the ricers. Most of them don't care what size turbo they are using or what wastegate they have on it. They just care about neons here and Nitrous there.

She could've stood a chance if she didn't post her specs online, I remember durning one point in the show they were talking about how they changed it to a 100 or 125 shot instead of the 75 they orignally planned on having due to seeing what she was running. It might not have made her win, but would've given her a better chance.

i might be biased towards dsm's but i think the biggest issue with that civic was the dumbass woman driver, and also, even though it was on slicks did anyone else notice it was an open diff, ie one wheel spinner? traction issues aloned screwed the honda for probably the first half of the track. i'm also not sure the proper mod path was followed for that talon, or maybe he's a shit driver too because 8.1 1/8th mile times are remiscent of just lightly modded dsm's.

Found this over on DSMTuners.com

Its now 2 something and all these comments are very amusing. Things that werent shown. Originally both teams had a $1000 budget, thats it! Anything we got from there was fair game. Obies car recieved over 7k in parts( I love hearing the guys"7K and it went what blah bla blah?) donated by Clutchmaster(clutch+ flywheel) Nitrous express(full nitrous kit) Toda(cam
gears) Aem(standalone computer system with tuning) 16g Turbo upgrade, M&H(all 4 slicks driven down from Northern Cali right after Johns fathers funeral ) Fuel pump, Intercooler and custom in house(Autolink) fabbed piping, Timing belt(too late and cant think of the company name right now...blue belt somebody help me out), misc gauges, exhaust sytem and some other stuff im brain farting on right now. Just because all this is installed doesnt garuntee a fast car. As any racer knows it comes down to driver or driver error. Another fact is he did kill an axle and when the car was taken back to the shop the axle somehow was hanging on by the boot and boot alone. On top of all the clowning we did, which is what made doing the show fun,we worked our asses off to install all these parts on a deadline while taking individual on camera interviews which took us away from actual work for three hours of the total build. I dont think most people can appreciate what it really took to put together 1. a car we really didnt like (Mitsubishi,we are not DSM fans nor had a choice in car or claim to be DSM tuners)and 2. do it in under a certain amount of time and have it filmed. With that being said.....editing.....editing played a huge part in what is really showed. Its Hollywood what can you expect? You actually believe the whole idea we were going to put Nitrous on the car after we found out what she had? We had the kit on order expecting to put it in the car anyway. The only difference is what HP shot were going to use. Hollywood played the biggest part in the way the show was made. Could it have been different and successfull? Sure, but do you want to watch a bunch of guys yelling at each other while they are wrenching......oh wait...thats American Chopper. Its already been done. They tried doing something different that the average Joe could understand. If the show runs again alot more people will have input into the way the scene is portrayed and changes will be made. Will everyone like it? Shit you cant please everyone. Give it up to Discovery Channel,Apexi,Autolink, all the tuners,Leila,Obie, all the people that donated parts and anyone else that had a hand in creating the show. So much negativity......no wonder this industry has such a hard time getting any major sponsership or coverage. Without all the drama it would be a show about 6 guys 2 girls and two cars.

that bitch couldn't drive... She should have run a better time on nitrous alone on a b16a... That car on a 75 shot alone would be capable of a high 13. Her 1/8th mile time sounds like it would have been a low 14 pass, thats with b16a swap, turbo kit, 75 shot, and slicks...

if his car was running all that, the DSM it should have destroyed the B16A, and dont knock her cause shes a girl, theres a few girls who can drive, the fact was she couldnt drive, and neither could he so it came down to the better car. any f*cking n00b should be able to beat a FF with AWD, with those kinds of mods. :bitch

Hey 91 F Body, I guess you missed the part where the b16 was fully built by Apexi with a big ass turbo upgraded intake manifold and stage 5 axles.

V.S the Talon that had only bolt ons. Granted they both used nitrous which was stupid in the first place. But saying the race was lopsided was a really lame comment unless you were talking about the 10-12 grand they had into the Honda V.S the 3-4 grand into the Talon.

I taped the show and watched the whole thing about 15 times already. Trust me when I say that there was way more into that civic than there was into that Talon.

Maybe you shoudl read before you post. The DSM had 7k in parts. Of course the Honda had more done to it ... gee I wonder why. Maybe it has something to do with it having a shitty engine to start with and they had to add a turbo and build it up because those engines weren't built as good from the factory as DSM engines. BTW I think she ran a 9.9 in the 1/8th which is complete shit. I run better than that in my n/a f22 accord. That girl was a total douche and couldn't drive worth a crap. 8.1 isn't a bad time at all for the dsm considering he broke an axle. That is good for low to mid 12's. The Honda should have easily ran the same time if that stupid girl could drive worth a crap.

d00d your gay, the first comment made was that they couldnt "fully build" the motor because of the 36 hour time limit. Big ass turbo, i doubt it on COMPLETELY stock internals, and an upgraded IM, it looked like a stock B16A IM, maybe an ITR, still though was never intended to be boosted.

The people couldn't drive... Hollywood sucks... loop-sided to begin with (FWD vs AWD)...

About the only tuner shows worth somewhat watching are Hi-Rev Tuners, NOPI, and Super 2NR. I saw some other gay show called Turner Transformation (or something like that) on Speed and it was the gayest f*cking thing on earth. They took a 04 RX8, put some nos in it (OH WHAT ELSE IS NEW?!?!), new rims, and then argued the rest of the 29 mins about what else to do. So if you see the show 'Tuner Transformation,' just go right along with your life because you'll be much better w/o it.

One more thing... why the f*ck does every damn last car on these shows or movies have to have nos? It's bullshit. Why can't these pussies learn about all engine w/o nos? Turbos and superchargers are all good but nos is some gay shit.

Oh yeah, one more thing.... anyone else think The Darkness is the new Queen? Sad thing is, this lead singer is gayer than the lead singer of Queen was. I'm not bashing Queen though, they made some damn good music.
