How do bikes have poor aero at high speeds? The have like 0 frontal area.
yeah but its a big flat area its better to have a sloping area than just some blunt front like a bike.
user12 is right if the aerodynamics were improved they could easily get that speed with less hp. but then again they could also go alot faster with the hp they did use with better aerodynamics. I would opt for faster speeds. 256 just aint fast enough

But, but but its one mile acceleration test, not a top speed run. Also, Hayabusas have one of the best aero profiles for bikes, and there is not really much you can do for bike, unlike a car.Yes, cars have more frontal area, but the shape is better(they can close the aero hole they create better). Besides, don't you think they woulda thought of this, spending 50k++++++$? This being WORLD RECORD, I'm fairly sure other bikers tried this.

who cares if its top speed or not, they are going 256 flippng MPH!!! the slicker you are the faster you can do everything, top speed and acceleration. Believe it or not bikes have shit aero.. there is nothing smooth about some guy hanging a bike.....its just a big moving air disburbance, and it will start to take its toll as early as 40mph
Maybe this event has rules agaisnt body work? ANd who really cares about WORLD RECORD..they have WORLD RECORDS for everything.

considering they are using stock stroke, body, and well most of it stock I would imagine this is a class limiting modifications to the body

I still think it's ridiculous that you guys think bikes have poor aero. They have a very small frontal area and their wakes are equally small. The rider is allmost completely out of the air stream behind the front body work and windscreen. They create much less drag then a production based car. Part of the reason bikes are so fast is because they are so aerodynamic. I know your gunna say well when they reach near top speed they don't accelerate that fast(referencing any Supra v Busa vid) That's because bikes do not create a lot of torque because of their small engines. The reason it was lifting the front wheel is because that bike does create a lot torque. Sure there's always ways to improve aero performance but I don't think bikes have poor aero performance.
