My first attempt at drifting!
OK...well here is the footage of my 240SX from the drift practice Tuesday.
It was my first time, so no making fun...
I didn't do great but I think it was ok for my first attempt. You can see as the vid progresses I get better.
It was lots of fun, so I am sure I will try this again.
Thanks go to Mark(88CRXin) and Jon for filming for me! Also thanks for the helmet Mark.
http://videos.streetfire.net/video/2...2a007eb9e0.htm
I'll have the rest of the footage with other people up soon...hopefully tonight, and I'll add it to this thread.
ADDED full video and 300ZX flip.
Here is the full video from the same drift night with a bunch of other cars.
http://videos.streetfire.net/video/2...2c002822e1.htm
The 300ZX in this video flips. Unfortunately I was moving my car so I didn't get any footage of it, but here is an in car video of when it flips!
http://videos.streetfire.net/video/0...29001f2487.htm
Although the driver wasn't that great it wasn't really his fault it flipped because he went off into a downhill grass section sideways. Had it not been downhill he probably would have been fine.

It really isnt easy as it looks, not bad for your first attempt. Get some decent suspension and some more practice and TIRES!
P.S. (im currently selling some Tanabe Sustec Pro's for a S13, because i got some new silk-roads if your interested )

man thats and cool track..
whats your current setup bro.
open diff with an stock KA will take time to get good with.. i did it for 3 years until i made a lil more money and was able to modify my diff and add a bit of power. i have came to respect it.

That wasn't too bad, you were getting the hand of it towards the end! Fair play.

Thanks guys.
My current setup is a bolt-on SR (FMIC, 3” exhaust, stock boost for the drifting), and a J30 V-LSD. Some people knock the V’s but it works great for me. I am sure a welded diff would be better for drag racing and drifting, but its just not streetable like the VLSD.
BTW I really only used (I guess) the power over technique. I didn’t pull the ebrake or do any clutch drops. I prefer to do it as natural as possible…plus it isn’t as hard on the car that way. The clutch my SR came with was all beat up, and it looked like the owner tried to drift with it by sidestepping the clutch all the time.

If I had any money I would be interested. But I am sure they are worth more than I would be able to spend. Plus I do have Sportline springs and Tokiko adjustable shocks/struts. Indecently how much are you looking to get for them?

well the thing about drifting that you will find out bro is.... you will have to use different techniques at certain times. all drifts are not started the same. also in the beginning i never touched the ebrake, I however learned that later its mostly used to correct angle. i pretty much loved to use feint..
vlsd is better suited for drag and the only down side from personal use is.. vlsd heats up and unlocks and acts just like an open diff.

Yeah I have heard that, but I haven't had much of a problem with mine.
You can see when Im doing donuts one tire may have stopped for a second, but for the most part both were spinning any time I broke them loose.
The J30 VLSD feels totally different than an open diff. With an open when I hit 2nd it would just spin the right tire and go straight. Now it barks them or if it breaks loose it kicks out a bit. Fun fun.

I was there Thursday as well, but I didn't bring my car.
Whats your stang look like?
I'm friends with Ackbar if you know him. Also loved that brown turbo stang, that thing sounded sweet!
