I haven't heard any updates yet, but it was suppose to be open a long time ago. I thought they were only going to have carts on it. Just cause the track wasn't very wide; I think?

I am not any sort of representive of Raceway Park. So I can't really answer question like that. Sorry

he he he...

the road course is almost done, guys...
i went out there last saturday...

my wife who works for SAPPORO (the beer co) was in talks to do a promotion for the upcoming inaugural east coast D1 event in May... anyway, michael, raceway park's president and kevin, the general manager, were kind enough to give us a first hand look at the track (not up to speed, of course... they we were riding an fj cruiser)... the cops were using the mid section for practice manuevers (i'm jealous)...

all i can say is... wow...
a highly TECHNICAL course... great for time attack, not so for wheel to wheel racing as it is rather narrow...
the first freakin' turn is a left bank!
the best turn is the approach to the back straight, the mini corkscrew, where you have an uphill right and all you see is the sky... followed by a quick left going downhill onto the straight...

i was told that so far the fastest anyone was able to go was 120 on the back straight in a saleen mustang...

best time so far was in the 1.5 minute range...

check it the demo footage:

thats very true. last year I went to see the VW meet at Etown to see couple of my friends race but i was driving my work car (2005 chrysler town&country). there were so many people that the back parking lot was full and they were allowing cars to park on the road course but before parking the van I did a lap in the mini van. scary stuff , not enough run off room.

not to mention, michael mentioned that a wall would be built up along the pension road back straight...

imagine, depending on the car, going at 100+ that close to a wall like the nascar guys! scary stuff... even if you're not wheel to wheel with someone else approaching a corner...

i can't wait to take track schooling there when it's completed...

michael promised that his intention was to have it available to the average person... 30 min session with instructors, then lapping sessions...

i wonder if scca will set up something like nasa's hpde program for this course...

with my car set up the way it is now, i'm scared of my suspension slamming on its bumpstops taking that banked corner!
