Overview
The Import Showdown returns April 28th and 29th at Silver Dollar Raceway.
The Import Showdown is put on by volunteers from Georgia DSM. It is a non-profit event where 95% or more of the funds raised are put into the event. If you haven't made it to an Import Showdown event, you don't know what you are missing! If you have been, well you know you can’t miss it! The Import Showdown is one of the southeast's hottest and fastest growing sportsman drag racing events. Our event combines fun with well thought out competitions! We also offer lots of test and tune time for those who just want to make open passes and not compete in the competition. We can even arrange for you to make custom passes with the opponent of your choice! (more info about this can be found on our website)
Last fall we drew a crowd of about 200 racers and 1200 spectators. We paid out and gave away over $3000 in cash, prizes, and giveaways over two days! This event appeals to everyone, whether you just want an opportunity to make open passes during test and tune time, compete in the actual competition, or just come out and watch and support an awesome event, we have everything for you in this family friendly environment!
This event is open to everyone! Any vehicle or bike, import or domestic is welcome
to make passes as long as they can meet track safety requirements; you can run any setup.
Competition rules are based on tire choice, power adders, number of cylinders, and some other factors. Please see our website for competition rules and classes.

Club Wars: Round 1
Type of Event: Autocross
Classes: CWS (Club Wars Street Tires) and CWR (Club Wars Race Tires)
Location: Turner Field
Date: Sunday, April 22nd 2007
Prizes: Trophies will be awarded to the winners in each class. A constructors trophy will be awarded to the highest scoring club. The awards ceremony will be held at Alan Cox Automotive on Saturday, April 28th. Time TBA.
Registration: www.soloatlanta.com. The cost for this event is $30 for SCCA members and $40 for others. Club Wars participants may either register for a specific Club Wars Class or for their normal SCCA Solo Class. All Club Wars participants must meet the requirements for entry into an ARSCCA event, including pre-registration and prepayment. Details can be found in the announcement forum of the Soloatlanta.com website.
Club Wars Classes
Within the registration page, Club Wars drivers need to register for either CWR (Club Wars Race Tire) or CWS (Club Wars Street Tires). Drivers must display their number and class, either CWR or CWS, on each side of the car.
For scoring purposes 'WRXatlanta' must be listed as your sponsor for the event. Sponsor information can be edited in the garage section of the registration page on DLBracing.com.
Both Club Wars classes will run in the morning heats, drivers need to check in to the event and have their cars tech inspected prior to running. Drivers should plan to be at the event, with cars ready for inspection prior to 8:00AM.
Club Wars Drivers in SCCA Classes
Club Wars Drivers who want to run in their normal SCCA Classes need to add either CWR or CWS to their Car information (CWR if you are on Race tires, CWS if you are in Street tires). For scoring purposes 'WRXatlanta' must be listed as your sponsor for the event. Sponsor information can be edited in the garage section of the registration page on DLBracing.com
Here's the morning schedule:
8:00 - Gates Open, Morning Check-In Opens, Tech Opens
8:30 - Course Open for walking. Morning Check-In Closes
8:45 - Tech Closes
9:00 - Course Closed
9:15 - Workers must be at their station
9:30 - First car off
This is the schedule you need to follow if you register for either CWS or CRW class. Plan to get there around 7.45 and get the car emptied out. Everything that's not bolted down must be taken out of the car. This includes floor mats and subwoofer boxes that are just sitting in the trunk.
When you register for a class, you will be required to choose a number. Your class and number must be displayed on both sides of the car. This doesn't have to be anything fancy. Most people make numbers using masking tape. Some people bring magnets.
The morning session will have 2 heats. One class will run in one heat, and the other class will run in the other heat. You are required to work the course during your non-running heat. You will most likely be assigned a corner and you need to watch for cones being hit, and replace them if necessary.
Participants and their guest are to be mindful at all times that this is a sanctioned event put on by the Atlanta Region, SCCA. All are expected to behave in a respectful manner at all times, particularly when arriving at and leaving from the event. Each entrant is required to fulfill a work assignment during the heat they are not running. Failure to fulfill a work assignment or behavior that reflects poorly on ARSCCA will result in disqualification.
If this is your first time at an autocross event, please listen to the announcements for the novice meeting. A professional will clarify a lot for you. They will explain what you need to do when you work. They will also walk you through the course and tell you what you need to be aware of. If you still need help with anything, come look for me. I'm 6 foot 2, shaved head, wearing a black WRXatlanta shirt and driving a loud all black STi
