My buddy has a '89 5.0L with about 2gs worth of work running 12s on street tires, we're putting a roll cage in next month so he can update his heads and run 11s
if you could find a GN for cheap, then you could make twice as much hp as a viper with the rest of the money.....they go for 10K and up though......
i'd get 2.3 ford turbo car.....with over 20K in mods to play with, you could easily run 10's....i was in the high 12's with way less than $4000 car and all

Then you don't know shit about modding a turbo DSM. You won't need anywhere near 10g's to take a Viper in a GSX. Like I said, with 2g's you can run low 12s, so just think what a couple of more g's would do.
Your right, I don't know shit about modding a turbo DSM, or a DSM period, never owned one. Consumer reports say they are crap. Sooo. Mabey I might look into it, but a Gran National will whoops a 1g DSM.... any DSM's ass anyway.
Mods: Too much shit to list. I'm faster than you. That is all.
If the only stipulation was to beat the viper, I'd get pretty much anything, beef up the internals for a few grand, and stuff the motor with plenty of nitrous. Wouldn't be THAT difficult to beat.
