91 Integra Build

Just bought a 91 Integra from a guy I work with. All I will say it is rough, but thats what I like :w00t

Hopefully the project will be done by winter, going for a 'tasteful' ricer build. First time I have ever built a N/A car (none the less a honda, i'm a nissan guy).

I'll post some pics tomorrow night of how it is all starting, and keep everyone updated on how it all goes, maybe the thread could be used as a big demo on how to do stuff.

Going to be dropping in a b18c gsr with lsd transmission. Body kit, wing, suspension, cf hood, etc etc. Still debating if after I build the engine if i should hook up some nitrous, still trying to figure out what kind of power i will be putting down with a fully built lower and top end.

I'll post more tomorrow.

Today I took off the old shitty body kit and the fenders. Also took apart the dash, found a half-installed Viper security system, looks like it stillw orked but I didn't have the remote so I pulled it all out. Also found this weird shit that controls the dash lights, you can change it colors with a button and the brightness(dimmer switch).

It isn't hooked up so i have to figure out how that goes back together... until then i have no guage cluster lights

Will take more pictures next time i work on it.

Also Check out the Custom paint job my friend threw on it for now.

Wow. That thing is a HEAP! Which is the best place to start for a cheap project car, as long as there is no frame damage...

Congrats and good luck!

Yeah it is.

There is no frame damage, no rust on the chasis, interior is perfect.

Still deciding on nitrous... Not quite sure yet tho

Personally I wouldn't bother with nitrous until you've extracted all other power from the motor.

Glad to hear that there is no structural damage or rust.

Ok so

Friday night I get off work
head over to my buddies shop where i have the integra.

This is pretty much how it looked after the hood was off:

Then after the radiator was out, as long as a few other minor accesories we have this:

And this is what was weird..

i'm like "Jeremy I forgot my impact wrench, its gonna be abitch to get these mounts out'

"yeah man i know, lets try a socket wrench with a pipe on it"

So we do.. sure enough, all motor mount bolts were finger tight.. all i could say was...

WTF :eek :eek

So then we get all the mounts out, and use the Engine Hoist to keep the engine in the air while we take out the drive shafts and stuff:

another view

We don't quite have the engine out, Just a few minor things with the drive shafts and such. Hopefully have it out sometime this week so i can sand blast the engine bay and clean it up.

I also can NOT BELIEVE some of this wiring. The guy had the radiator fan all jimmy rigged, and it still didnt work, then he has this long wire running to the back of the car, and it isnt connected to anything so another WTF

still cant believe those mounts were finger tight.

Radiator was also held in by a wood screw.. yet again WTF

No not yet.

Tomorrow night i am going over after work to finish taking the engine out,
I may or may not be moving the car due to some issues with my friends dad.

But I do not have anywhere else to take it, so it will probably stay there. All that means is I can only work on it once a week.

Will make a post tomorrow night after the engine is out.

Good News we go the engine out last night! (finally) :clap :clap :clap

Took about 12 hours for me and my friend, which isn't horrible i guess.

I only got two pics until the battery in my camera died, Ill go back over today and take some more.

I will get some more pics of the engine. If anyone wants parts off the engine I will be parting it out. Also I have a b17 Tranny for sale

Right now I am having some troubles deciding on my build. I probably won't be turboing it, and after a few weeks of debating this is what I have decided:

:Engine: B18c GS-R
  • Skunk 2 Pro 1 Cams
    Skunk 2 Cam Gears
    Skunk 2 Valves
    Skunk 2 Valve Springs
    Skunk 2 Retainers
    AEM Fuel Rail and FPR
    Koyo Radiator
    Skunk 2 Intake Manifold
    Skunk 2 Throttle Body
    Hondata s200
Megan Header w/ Skunk 2 Catback
    Fujita CAI

The above mentioned are what I am probably going to do for sure, the items below I am still questioning.

Skunk 2 Cam Seals (worth $20, or will the stock ones be fine?)
Spoon Thermostat (Again, really worth the $80?)
HKS Headgasket(Would rather find myself one for less than $180)
    HKS Grounding System(Worth the $125?)
Unorthodox Pulley Set(Leaning twoards ordering some of these..)
    Eagle Rods
JE Pistons(Can't decide if I should build the top end then wait for the bottom to go, then rebuild the bottom end.)
Greddy Timing Belt(Opinions? I have heard Greddy belts suck)

    riveline:
I have a b17 tranby.. keep it or use the GSR?
ACT XT64 Clutch w/ fidanza flywheel
Yonaka Axles (cheap, but are they of quality)

    :Interior:
    Sparco Polished Pedals
    DC Sports Shift Knob
    Momo Millenium Evo Steering wheel
Corbeau race seats w/ harnesses from friend
Some guages that my friend has

    :Exterior:
    Big M Body Kit
    OEM Style CF Hood
    GT2 Aluminum Wing
eBay halo head and tail lights
Rock Star red for the paint
    some 17" Rims w/ tires.

    :Suspension:
Power Stop F & R Brake Upgrade kit
    Skunk 2 Coilovers

If anyone has any comments, or anything like that on what would make the build better, what items may not work together, or maybe what does work together, please post it up.
