Good afternoon, gents

Just popping in here to talk about the epiphany I had the other day regarding American Vehicles and the people who hold them in such high regard.

I have owned and driven three different Camaro's over the span of the last 4 years, and have been (what I thought) very satisfied. Until I took a step back and took a hard, stern look at the advancement of technology in transportation, and realized that I, along with every other Blowhard up on their ego horse in an unmatched pool of denial.
What I'm trying to say is, it's stupid to own something not worth owning, and it's even more stupid trying to justify it by throwing the 'These colors don't run' mentality.
Unfortunately this mentality is as ubiquitous as it is unnecessary.
I literally woke up last week and decided that I had had enough, and went and picked up the an 08 Lancer and couldn't be more happy with my act of spontaneity.

Oh well, that's the end of my rant.
Thought maybe you guys would appreciate it.

Imports are no better than domestics, and vice versa. Yes, imports have their perks. They are smaller, lighter, more fuel efficient, as fast or faster and have newer technology. For years though, I said I was only going to drive a domestic. If you get hit in a lot of older cars, you'll probably live instead of being mangled in a little import. You actually have a frame on the car instead of a bunch of sheet metal. Making more power on the engine is easy, just pop a pair of heads on, a cam, and go. There isn't a ton of fine tuning involved, and it doesn't take much intelligence to understand.

I'm glad you're happy with your new car. Hell, I couldn't be happier with the Civic I own. It's cheap on gas, fun to drive, and I like working on it. But, like it or not, domestics still have their place and their advantages. Maybe they don't appeal to you, but there are still reasons why people will only drive American cars.

Now, I say "American" and "import", and I know that many "imports" are built here in America and that many "American" cars are made from parts from other countries, but I'm talking about their origins.

I love domestic cars as much as the next motorheaded muscle car freak, but i sold my mustang to buy a civic because the small aspect of a more fuel efficient engine. The companies such as ford, chevy, dodge (almost all) need to get with the program and design a more efficient car. They have the technology to do basically anything they want. So until they wanna develope a good mpg car, my business is elsewhere.

As far as people taking so much pride in "domestic" cars i dont blame them, but like you said they're never the best because there's always something better and faster.

Well said, Iplay4keepz. Even if gas prices weren't so high, I like the way my Civic drives and how easy it is to manuever it in small spaces. If only they were rear wheel drive or somehow didn't have CV joints and the engine/tranny configuration they do. I'm not looking forward to having to change a clutch.

haha ya a rwd civic would be awesome. I mean the reason i like domestic cars is how easy it is to fix everything and how you have lots of space, but im sure i could share that joy if my civic was rwd too.
