It really doesn't matter how big the gallon is, its just compressors are loud and annoying and the more air you can use without the compressor running the better if you are inside. Personally, I have a Bostitch Pancake compressor, it runs just about nonstop if you are using air tools or air nailers in my case. But a. its cheaper B. its smaller and portable and c. you won't need a 220V installed in your garage..i know SOME do. Also, the smaller the compressor, usually the less time it takes to build up PSi in the tank so the quicker you can use the tools. Sometimes the big compressors you have to wait awhile until you can use some of the air tools because there isn't enough pressure, and they will barely work. you can probably pick up a good pancake compressor for like 200-300.
