I just started back at college today and as usual parking was an absolute nightmare, however the bike spaces are always open and they are usually right next to the buildings. I have been toying with the idea of getting a bike for a while. Probably a sport bike in the 500-600cc region. Could anyone shed any advice on my situation? I basically just drive around town to get back and forth from school and work and it seems like a bike would be more practical than a car at this point. The only thing I am really concerned about is safety though. Obviously there are going to be more risks involved, but is it as bad as people say it is? Also, what is involved in getting a motorcycle license and would taking a motorcycle class be the best way to learn to ride?

I don't like the looks of 500cc sport bikes, basically because they look like bicycles with motors on them, they just seem too skinny and look llike toys to me.

You can always retake the class... but you cant relive the party!
So there I was, Heineken in the one hand, cigar in the other, trousers around my ankles, my balls slapping against her chin and I thought to myself, man, what a great fucking beer!
For florida, there is a written test and obviously a riding portion. You can take the written, get a temporary license and ride around with that until you take the riding portion. your not allow to have passengers with the temp
If you take a motorcycle saftey class and pass then you wont have to take the test at DMV.
Riding a motorcycle obviously requires some skill. is it dangerous?...yes! the part that sucks the most is people is cars dont see you. I would say i get cut off at least once a day while riding. Alot of guys get hurt because they ride outside of there skill level.
Would i recommend a 600cc bike for your first bike....well...I did it but that doesnt mean you can. if you respect the bike, you should be okay. I would say buy a cheap 250cc for $1500 and ride it around for awhile to get your skill level up....Then if riding is something you want to continue to do, buy a bigger bike.
