its not too hard to fix really, i'd say it can be drivin on, if it breaks, then you'll need a tow, but if it holds up, only thing i'd say it'll wreck is the axle, you can do it yourself as long as you can get underneath the car, but even still you may not need to, you'll need a iTHINK a 32MM socket tho to get off the axle nut, i think thats the size of it. other than that its just normal hand tools, including punches and pliers.

1.take off the wheel.
2.remove axle nut, either a 34-36 i believe
3.then remove the kotter pin and nut off of the lower balljoint
4.take out the bolt that holds the strut to the control arm
5.pull lower control arm down and onto the side of the strut
6.pry axle out of the trans, then reverse to re assemble

the only hard part on my car was breaking the ball joint loose. I had to hammer as hard as i could for like 10 min to break it. Ohh and on a side note: I just changed my axels out like a month ago maybe two and they are already making noise. I got the parts from o'reilys and im hoping i have a warrenty b/c this is just retarded.

There is two ways of removing the axels from the car. Both you would need to start with loosening the Hub nut with that done you will either need to - First drain the transmission or place a bucket under the area where the axel enters the trasnmission to catch any fluids that may seep out when the axel is removed. Loosen and remove the nut and bolt on the fork. Then remove the clotter pin on the lower balljoint then loosen and remove the crown nut after that you may use a balljoint seperator tool or rap the lower control arm with a heavy hammer to seperate the arm from the ball joint after thats done pry on the axel from between the CV jont and the transmission. Replacement is opposite of removal.
Second way raise the car and loosen the Hub nut, place a bucket under the transmission. unbolt and remove the bolt that attaches the lower control arm the the subframe. As well as remove the two other nuts and bolts that attach the lower control arm to the stabalizing arm. Pry down on the arm to get it out of under the subframe then seperate the control arm from the stabilizing arm by prying on them. Then pry on the axel and replacment is opposite of removal.

Lots of typing....... but I prefure the second way since you dont need to sit there for a while hammering on the suspension.

u dont need to hammer, all u need is a pry bar and that has always worked for me, and why would you dran the trans fluid to change an axle?? if anything leaks out, that is just overfill
