Friend has a car problem need help

She has a 99 saturn sl2 and this is how she described the problem to me..."when i hit the gas...like to start going it takes like, 1/4 of a mile to get to 40mph. and if the RPMs get past 3000 the car starts jerking and trying to get up steep hills the car will barely do over 10mph" To me this sounds kind of like a fuel or ignition problem....any ideas guys?

welcome to tune-up time. Tell her to get some new plugs/wires and cap/rotor if applicable. That should prolly fix her problem. Most people never do a tune-up and can't figure out what these problems are..I've run into it with Honda's soooooo much

Interesting...assuming its an OBD2 car with the 02 sensor after the cat, does a clogged up converter go bad and the computer compensates for it or just the obvious and restrict exhaust flow causing huge back pressure?

I know my stuff, but I'm still learning
