i heard both will give off fumes i'd stick with the metal, plus the i.d. on the rubber will be smaller than the o.d. not sure if it restricts air flow. i made my intake out of 2 1/2 steel and used dupli-color paint to keep it cool.and it works well, very well.

Get aluminum. More than likely, the rubber pipe would collapse from the vac on the engine.

it's dupli color high heat resistant engine paint to protect against temp. below 1000 deg. far. i painted the inside with 2 coats of sommth paint and the out side with 5 coats .the pipe is steel so can get very hot .but i ran my car for about 2 hours straight of high way driving, went home and decided to check the temp. and it was warm to the tuch. like luke warm water.i got the tip from a diy cold air intake system.

It protects against temps up to 1000deg, aka wont melt off till that temperature. The paint has no insulating qualities at all. Why on gods green earth would you wanna risk painting the insides of an intake tube and risk the chance of the paint chipping off and going into your engine?? Don't believe everything you read. If you want to insulate your intake, try wrapping it in some sort of heat tape possibly or blocking off all possible areas of heat source.

acutally, its not about price or quality. plastic/rubber has its benefits as oppose to aluminum. i know that iceman intakes and some of K&N are made of plastic. the main benefit of plastic is it runs alot cooler than the alminum intake. plus you can mold it into any shape you want.
cooler intake pipe keeps the air cool when it goes into the manifold.

plastic does not transfer heat. This is why hondata uses plastic intake manifold gaskets.
