Ok, Im about DIY as much s I can. And I just like tinkering with things. I was thinking, I can get flat aluminum stock, and thin tubular stock, and I can weld aluminum. Intercoolers are expensive. If you see where this is going..
What do you think if I attempted to build my own FMIC?? I could build it to my own specs, and have fun in the process. I would probably work on it off and on over the next month or so, seeing that Im not turboing until the spring. But if you could weld aluminum and had the stock, would you do it?

Just like I voted, I can't weld but it would be fun to try and make an fmic if I could weld.

If youve ever seen how an IC is constructed its quite simple. The only problem I might have is with that pleated metal between the veins. But, if the viens flow easy enough and the thermal efficency is good enough they wont be needed anyway.
What you do is line up the hollow stock, weld a 1/4" plate between them, and that is the core. Cut and weld the endtanks and its done. I oversimplified the process, but thats the jist of it.
