from jdm to dsm need info.
i just left the honda scene so sad  but now im on to different things i just got a 1998 elipse 5 spd with only 69000 miles
i was just wondering about them and if any one on hear has any information on keeping them in good condition and maitained well thanks for the helps and the tips

ya dont over reve it or let the belt break u will be replaceing the head and pistons they are extreamlly close but there fast and a good car other wise

Its a non-inteferance engine, i believe. Belt breaks... the car just stops. No damage like hondas. I know for a fact the older sohc's were non interferance... i dont know for sure about the 420A's

Yeah, the RS still walks. Its got the 420A motor in there right? Not the 4g63?
The only DSM motor that doesnt really walk is the 4G37, 1.8 93hp. (perfect boost motor though- 9:1 CR, Cast Iron block).

I've seen plenty of stock 4G63's taking POUNDINGS...and I do mean no-remorse..20+psi on a completely stock engine in my buddies 1G GST...no crankwalk. The car lasted a good 4 months on 20+PSI..the stock injectors were maxing out and the stock turbo was starting to shit the bed but..the car held together until he raced his brothers Probe GT on the highway, which used to be my avatar..the actual race

where his car melted a piston..And to add to this conversation. 4G63>420A but I have seen some pretty fast RS/GS eclipses with turbo kits. Someone from around here was running about 18 PSI on a lightly built block, running low 13's on street tires, trapping high 12 mph's. they can be fast..but most likely they aren't.

No, theyre definetly fast. Theyre wicked fast. But telling me that it lasted "four months," while trying to say they can take a pounding is kind of contradictory dont you think? The average life span of a car in america is 22 years. 22yrs vs 4 months??

..20 PSI..stock ecu tune, stock turbo..completely stock engine. And I mean daily piss pounded..I guess to appreciate it you'd have to see the abuse we put it through. Sick integra, btw.

I look at a reliable car as one that makes good power, can have the piss beaten out of it, and keep on ticking. I plan on freguent trips to redline with my new built B18C, and I expect it to last a LOOONG time.
