Jump Starting an Old Ford Ranger

I know that this is a newbie question... But I was wondering, does anyone know if I could jump start a Old Ford Ranger even if it does not have a battery? Would everything just run off of the alternater? Can someone help?

dude, that ain't a newbie question.. a newbie question would be "hey can i jump start a civic without a battery?" ... your's is just in the wrong damn site altogether. damn fords... LOL j/k

to be honest, i don't know. i don't think you can.. cuz i don't think you're gonna get enough amperage out of just jumper calbles to start it.. kinda like how when you need a jump you have to wait a minute for the system to charge a little. i have swapped out batteries while the car was running tho, if that helps.
