Ls/Vtec or Crvtec?

ok i havea gsr head sitting in my room on my refridgerator(sorry i cant spell) i want to build a good motor to turbo for drag racing purposes. should i get a b20 block or an ls block? ls blocks are cheaper but which would make more power? is there even that much of a difference? also money is not an issue it will just take longer to build. oh and if this matters its going into a 90 crx that is already set oup for a b-series swap. thanx

Go with the lS... Cheaper, bigger aftermarket, weighs less , can make decent reliable power..

Thumbs up

go with the b20z (crv)just change the bearings ,oil pump and water pumpto the itr (TYPE R) so you could take it to 9000k rpm and it wont blow the motor like MINE DID

even with all that stuff changed I wouldnt feel safe revving to 9k. you would need to rebuild the entire bottom end

B20 blocks have somewhat weak sleeves, if you are boosting it, you should resleeve first.

Your motor blew because of the long stroke on the b20 not being able to handle 9k, not because of pumps.

You got that backwards dude, B20 has higher potentials because of the bigger bore. The aftermarket parts are just as many as the LS.

The B20 gives you an advantage with displacement, but as stated before the sleeves are weak. If you want to play the game, re sleave that mofo and put somes rods and pistons in and turbo it. Don't worry about the redline if you are going to turbo, just get a nice sized turbo and make sure the bottom end stays happy. The LS/VTEC IMHO is a better daily driver, but a pain in the ass to tune.

Dem Racoon nuts are large...

Id bore the 1.8 and resleeve it, the b20 sleeves arent weak because of the higher displacement, its because of the construction of the sleeves.

crvtec is the way to go.
ls vtec if you want to sleeve and bore oversized it can only go so far with an ls vtec.
crvtec you can oversize bore it to like about a 2.4,2.3
bigger displacement bigger power.
resleeve the b20
lighter rods
clevite 77 engine bearings
gsr or type-r oil pump and water pump
i suggest oem factory parts
from honda itself
nice low c.r slugs
chrome molly piston rings
arp bolts from block up
and some skunk2 turbo cams
use the first 3 gears on your tranny from a b16 or a jdm type-r
and the last two gears of an integra ls
you will have nice acceleration and a nice top speed from the taller gears on the last two gears of an ls.
oh yeah a diff. and quicker final drive
