correct me if i'm wrong but is there any point for putting the bov there? is he trying to make it more heard or is there some trick about exterior mounting of it that i don't know about?
Technically, no. But now-a-days, that is the main reason why people buy them.
When the throttle is closed suddenly, excessive air pressure builds up behind the throttle body plate (because the turbo is still spinning), causing the turbocharger to slow down. The blow-off valve vents this air to help prevent the turbocharger from slowing down, which creates lag.
best spot for a BOV is as close to the throttle body as possible, thus when its forced to hit the throttle plate, it just exits out without needing to travel back down the tube.

i feel sorry for that supra. bov sound is soo overrated.
My cousin bought an aftermarket BOV on his wrx because previous owner messed it up and know when ever hes driving people around they think his car is broken Plus he has a turbo timer and when he gets out of his car it takes 30 sec. to turn off so people always tell him he left his car running.

i don't mean to sound like an ass but i feel sorry for your cousin's wrx as well. having an aftermarket BOV actually hurts performance. it bogs during shifts and runs rich as hell. also, the wrx does not need a turbo timer. out of all the good things that you can do to the wrx.. your cousin did the worst two mods that you can do it.

yeah the turbo timer came with the car along with a broken BOV,CAI, Carbon fiber hood and trunk, and the STI spoiler (but the the car is just the WRX not the STI). With the money he spent to have it look stock he could have bought a New WRX.
Why does it not need one? So you could run it hard and just shut it down without giving the turbo time to cool? I thought turbo-timers had a practical use in any/all turbocharged cars? Especially if you don't want to sit around and wait for the car to idle for a minute or two.
