Mustang GT 540 HP??

My friend tells me his Mustang GT with these mods has 540 hp. I think he's full of shit and its closer to 300. Who is right?
"its got hot wires, cam gears, High-Flow injectors, High compression pistons, High boost pulley, sequential blow off valves, and a High-pressure supercharger"

Are you kidding me? He is probably running 7-8 lbs. and making 540whp. I think that it's safe to assume you haven't heard this statment before...

There is NO replacement for displacement.

It's OK, he has 5 liters we have 2.2 or less. How can you compete with that?

haha, that was a good one. I always say, don't buy a ford unless you're mechanically inclined, because you will need it. It's not always the case, but usually, espeically if you're modding it. Of course the same could be same about any car you mod to a certain degree.

My friend's uncle has been in the top 3 Street Class (I think?) for Nat'l Mustang Racing. Anybody that reads any 5.0 or related magazines will hear his name mentioned at least once per month, i've got a spread where they did 3 articles on him in just one month.

Anyways, what kind of blower is he running? Paxton, Vortech, yada yada....

My buddy has almost the same setup and he's running at about 510whp. I've driven the car and its sick and scary.

With that much HP I hope your friend has welded sub frames or his car might twist itself into the history books.

Yeah....I am sure he is real close to the 500 hp range....but it isn't as much fun to have a 500 hp mustang when you can make a 300 hp civic, or more depending on application....

Hmm, high compression pistons along with high boost pulley? . Odd combination.

The numbers seem high for a 5.0 (i'm assuming it is a 5.0) with stock heads and intake manifold, both of which are crappy. The heads are really restrictive and barely suffiecient on a stock 5.0, let alone a blown one. Heads are usually a big part of every high hp 5.0 build up.

Who knows, maybe he's running 15+ psi of boost or something. But the high compression pistons would make it more detonation prone. The stock 5.0 doesn't like boost over 12psi (with stock conservative compression), and the higher compression pistons would only limit him boost wise. Who knows, maybe he's running race gas and has a killer tune, but i doubt that just by looking at his mod list (no custom chip, ignition, tuning device, etc...mods). At 500+ horses, the stock block is at its limits too. Sounds like a ticking time bomb if he really does have that combo, and put out that many horses.

Overall, pretty sketchy. He may be pulling your leg. I'd ask for a dyno or something. Looking at the mod list, it doesn't seem to add up.

i dunno...if people are boosting 11:1 type S engines successfully thn low compression mustang engines can get a boost in comp and also boost

probably really helps the low end in a centrifugal supercharged engine

stock block k20's are boosted, but not very reliably at high pressures for a long time.

no they aren't...i agree

alot of that has to do with the open deck design of the engine...also alot to do to the high comp too...but the design of the engine has a big factor...also considering its all aluminum doesn't help

i think a 5.0 is cast iron block with aluminum heads...closed deck...awesome for boosting
