My Local Honda Dealer , Soon to be spoon dealer of All East Coast.

My Local Honda Dealer , Soon to be spoon dealer of All East Coast???

Im like WTF. I go in to pick up a part and first off. I see a civic with my rims. Im like umm , thats not cool.

Then I go inside. Theres my rim sitting on the wall. Thank god the center cap is ugly and its not my color , but still my rim.

Then Im getting my part and see a spoon package and a spoon strut bar. Im like ok.

Whats with the spoon stuff. Next thing I know the same old part guy I talk to, whos like just about any other honda part guy. Busts out the spoon catalog and starts saying they are building two spoon cars in the back , soon to be east coast dealer. He said any spoon part that is sold east of the mississppi will go through them.

I left thinking , oh jesus thats really not good news. I dunno , it could be good news to some. But I think they will overcharge and be weird about installs. Seems like too much for just one dealership , I think honda should be more in on this. Or spoon shouldnt just allow this at a dealership.

Rather see an actual shop do this. What are you thoughts.

Honda should be in control of something this big and something this important to cars, because of some performance parts that are sold by spoon, most people will be getting them installed by the dealer and wouldn't want it to void warranty or atleast have a garauntee of the part/install's quality.

I don't know much about spoon, but im sure most of their parts are for the civic and integras if im not mistaken, most likely not much in the 5gen category, but just one dealership handing the east coast seems wrong.

People that order this from honda that aren't in ur area will again most likely think this part doesn't void warranty when different dealers think otherwise. We'll have to see how other dealerships react to this. It'd be better if Honda just used spoon or mugen as a factory performance upgrade sector of the car maker, because it'll be cheaper i think , and be a much better deal for the customer.

well, from a marketing perspective, honda obviously wants to capitalize on the f&f trend. If they partner with a respectable company like spoon, they'll get instant cred. As an added bonus, if the parts have problems (or the install(er)s are shitty) honda can blame the parts, instead of compromising the reputation of their own brand. Very sellout-ish.

As far as price goes, this could mean that spoon's prices (atthe dealer) are going to be more expensive, and cheap/low quality imitations are going to be selling on ebay. Which means people who think they're getting spoon parts are going to be dissatisfied with the performance. Which is bad for spoon. On top of that, you'd think spoon is makeing plenty of dough on their own. Why sell your parts at more expensive prices through a car dealership?I dunno, it'll definitley make some dough for both companies, but the consequences could be IMO.

I think that's kinda cool. Some of the dealerships in my area are starting to do a lot of aftermarket stuff too, nothing on the scale of being a Spoon reseller though. Just goes to show that Honda and their dealership are finally realizing that there is a strong demand for aftermarket performance products.

Yeah it is mostly for integra / civic as they guy was saying this as well. He said they will have parts coming out for all their new cars though.

I was like hmmm.....wild stuff. Sounds like maybe spoon is stepping things up. Wish they would go and try to release a lot of stuff for the prelude first though.

Also I guess this really isnt the forum for this. Maybe I should put this into a general forum.

it might be a lil more expensive... BUT, now people wont have to order on the internet, wait for the order to go through, wait for shipping and all that bullshit. instead they go to their local dealer, buy what they want and go, or order what the want, honda would most likely have it the next day and then go.

That is rather interesting, I wouldn't mind having a spoon/jun dealer near me so i can get parts. Those parts are hard as hell to come by unless you pay a buttload for it and wait a few months for over seas shipping. I'm down with the idea...regarding install, I would trust Honda installation over a shop anyday. I would think they offer warranty on parts and services...

Honda will prosper from this, with the JDM crave and all...if they start doing swaps and stuff too...watch out

Well nissan doesn't offer warranty when they install certain performance upgrades from NISMO. I watched that on a car magazine/tv show

they will install the parts, but your warranty would be voided from then on.

so you never know. Honda im sure wouldn't want to lose their status as "One of the most reliable motor companies".

but i just hope this ind. dealer treats the customer right, i've been screwed by dealers, and almost everytime i have had to throw hissy fits, like in my situation now, im going back to honda, and if i get screwed i'll be pissed with my situation.

I'd love for honda to carry some spoon/jun/mugen parts and still offer warranty, they really need to offer a performance option to their vehicles, because they can't neglect that Honda cars are probably the most modified vehicles in the US and in japan.

no no, classic honda where i work is just one of the dealerships that should be getting stuff.

i *think* mikesho is talking about Holler Honda. and classic is owned by holler automotive group, therefore i will be getting spoon parts at 25% off

lubin, you knew this already...
