Hey, what is the difference between short-ram intakes and cold air intakes? Short rams are sooo much cheaper..but why? I have a 1993 Civic EX , automatic transmission. Which one should I get?
Another question, I see 40 dollar inferior brand (BOMZ) intakes on Ebay and like 200$ AEM ones...what difference does it make?
Short ram positions the air filter at around the same place as the standard airbox (sucking in hot air). Cold air intake has the filter sitting down low to collect cooler air (usually just in front of the wheel arch or near a front bumper opening).
Mods: APC rear window sticker, short ram intake, weight reduction (no hubcaps or hula dancer on dash)
hes right, short ram is normally hotter air, easier to install, and practically no chance and suckin in water...cold air is not much harder to install, colder air, but you risk suckin up water unless your have an air bypass valve.
go with the cheap ones, but make sure there is a decent filter on it, an aluminum pipe is and aluminum pipe no matter how you look at it

Truth. You could get an exhaust shop to bend the intake pipe & just buy a K&N/BMC/etc. conical air filter & do it like that, if you don't mind doing a bit of leg work.
