screeching brakes

Hello, my car has been having this problem, and i had two questions. Part 1. When i take a somewhat hard RIGHT turn (wheel at 70 degrees+) at a somewhat high rate of speed (30+), there's the metal-on-metal screeching coming from my wheels. I'm not sure which side it is, but i think it's the driver's side. Anyways, the problem has gotten worse, to the point that when i lightly tap the brakes, it screeches. I already checked the brake pads, and they're perfectly fine. What else would cause a metal on metal SCREEECH?

Part II.
Anyways, since it's kind of hard to diagnose the problem (the best i can do is stick my head out the window while i'm driving), i was thinking about taking the wheels off, jacking up the car, securing it. Then turn it on, and "drive" it, with the front wheels off the ground. I'll get a buddy to see if there's anything scraping when i depress the brake pedal. Is there any harm in doing this? I wouldn't want to damage the drivetrain, and granted my accord runs smoothly, I wouldn't want the engine to somehow "vibrate" the car off of the stands. Of course i would be taking extra precautions, wheel chocks+cinderblocks behind the rear wheels, 2 sets of jackstands+leaving the hydro jack in place, and sticking my tires and another set of cinder blocks underneath the car.

Oh yeah, i have a 95 accord EX. Thanks to anyone with any suggestions to Part 1/2!

Umm, did you take the wheels and calipers off to check the brakes, or did you just give it a lookylu through the spokes? Take the wheels off, take the brake pads off, and look at each pad. Make sure the indicators cant touch the rotor.

Even if your brake pads look fine, the indicators could still be touching, dont belive your ears when driving. Have another person ride along with you (someone knowledgeable about cars) and try to spot where the sound is coming from.

If for some reason you do decide to lift the wheels off the ground and "drive" the wheels; try not to run the car with the suspension fully un-loaded. This could put alot of stress on the universal joints.

yeah, i took off the wheels and the retaining bolt and checked each pad. there's about a centimeter left, maybe a little more. i changed them about a year ago. i'm more concerned about the suspension though, is there a way to keep them "loaded" when they're off the ground? thanks for the quick response!

i dont think theres a way to compress ur suspension while its off the gound. maybe jack it up on one side and put another jack and a block of wood on the bottom of the suspension and jack that up. other then that idk

hmmm, maybe i can get someone to stand on one side of the road while i drive down, then have him switch sides and do it again... so he can see which side it's from.

is it generally a bad idea to leave a car jacked up for a long time?
