synthetic switch

ok, Ive read some articles on oil, and Ive been convinced of the advantages of synthetic oils. Is there anything that I need to know before i switch?
i.e., can i just drain the old oil and pour in 10w30 mobil one with a new filter, or is there something else i need to do?
thanks a bunch.

iceiso is an unknown quantity at this point
since you have an older car, and assuming higher milage, you probably don't need to change. the carbon deposits from petroleum oil (usually bad) might be holding your seals together, so if it's not broke, then don't fix it.
