Turbo or supercharger

hey,
i have a general performance question....what would be the best thing for me to do..i have a 1993 honda del sol SI (below) its the D16 motor with the SOHC vtec motor, its an auto as of know...what are the advantages of a turbo over a supercharger or vice versa in this situation of the D16 engine....or if i waited until i bought a B16 DOHC vtec and did a manual conversion (more $$) would the situation change, because its a manual, or will the "winner" of the supercharger, turbo dispuit still hold if its a manual? And do u think that i should wait for the B16, or what kind of HP increase am i looking at for the D16 engine, whether turbo'd or supercharged? please help me out!

Your D16 is a capable motor of a turbo, and produce quite a bit of power on a stock block (around 200whp) but your transmission will definitely hold you back. Superchargers are ok, but if your looking to make power, go with a turbo.

In fact, I will bet that your automatic transmission will go out first before your engine if you decide to turbo it. I personally think you should convert to manual and boost the d16 afterwards. You can beef up your tranny by upgrading to a level 10 torque converter, but they are quite expensive as well. You can look for it right here: www.levelten.com

A b16 will be able to produce a lot more power than the d16, however, you will be paying a lot more for it. Plus, if you blow up your d series, they are cheap motors to replace since almost everyone tends to swap them out where as b16's can be a tad bit more expensive. www.turbod16.com is a great site regarding boosted d series if your interested.

Hope I helped.
