update on project!!

Well i checked out DH racing and they have some nice stuff but we dont have the funds to buy a built motor. His dad has a friend that use to work at the local race shop so he can do our work at that shop and just pay the guy for use on the machine. Our goal is to run 12's on a street car.(5th gen hatch gutted). Is it possible to put together a motor w/ transmission the whole deal ready to run and turbocharged w/ $6000??(this does not includ the car) we are gonna start w/ a bare ls block and bore it out to 85mm. And yes i am very serious about doing this i just wanna know what i'm getting into, lol!!

If all you want to do is run 12's you're going overboard with the 85mm thing...you'll break the budget if you do it right as well.

B16+Pistons/Rods+Hondata+Turbo kit=300whp and deep twelves.

Talking

6K is more then enough to run 12's even for a honda guy. If you are serious about this and everything. Just know this...this applies to anyone no matter what you drive. You can do whatever you want as long as you have deep pockets. The thing is though once you start getting real serious..sometimes it's easier to just get a bigger motor and start there. But since you're gonna use the stock block wich is what it sounds like. Just get a big turbo....Bore it like you were planning and FORGE everything..even if you feel you don't need it, do it anyway.....(You'll thank me later). I'm doing somewhat the same thing with a Z project I'm doing with my best friend. We will be runnin much higher numbers though and we are only using 3k. hell for 6K I would be in the 9's...easy. So you should have know problem..I suggest you spend about 3-4 on the motor and drive tran. Then use the rest to figure out what you're gonna about getting that thing to grip.

Well I guess it depends on what you are use to and what you are working with. Not to star a flame war. But I know if I where to put that to my bird eventhough it is a 6 banger. Do the V8 swap and other aminities. I would be running close to 10's depedning on the setup I went with. Now I don't know how much harder it is with a civic. But I'm sure it can't be "that" much more difficult..right ?

I guess I shouldve elaborated a little more (dont know why I didnt, I didnt even explain anything). what I was getting at is that for every desired upgrade comes a manditory one. Big turbos need stronger internals. With stronger internals you will end up wanting more boost (it'll happen, always does) then you need to do your fuel system. Then comes electronics to control everything. Its a never ending cycle. But $6k is a hell of a start.
