vtec power...its just great

I just got a 2000 civic si, when i test drove it the vtec kicked hard at around 6 rpms and got to 8 rpms so fast i barely had time to shift in 1st gear, i have a AEM cold air intake for now and it makes a real nice sound, expecially at around 5 rpms. What other comments can u guys make about ur first vtec experience? When the rpms hit 6, the sound was incredible, i thought something fell out of the engine or something lol, its like a second engine at high revs, i love it.

VTEC does make two different engines out of one. Also your in vtec all the time , and its low cam vtec mode to high cam vtec mode....the crossover is the kick.

So this ought to make you feel better as your motor down low and up high has vtec on...

I hated Honda so much back in high school. I mean really hated rice . Then someone i knew bought a new Yellow Type R. He took me for a ride, and that was it. I loved them from then on. The Vtec of a Type R won me over. He even let me drive it. It was pretty awesome to say the least. I love the innovation of the 2 cams. I was coming from a muscle car world where if you had a big cam you lost all bottom an vise versa. But Vtec gave you the best of both worlds, and on the high performance venisons its sounded really badass. I even convinced one of my good friends to buy a 98 Type R. I loved driving the hell out of it.

Its one of those immature things. Where you just hate it to hate it. I'm glad I'm past all that. Its worthing giving everything a chance. But I must say I do still dislike FWD, its not that bad, but it has its place. RWD or AWD is where its at for a performance car.

Yea hearing a loud vtec engine was and still is a wonderful sound. I remember when I installed some ITR cams in my old b16 and the first time I drove it afterwards it was sick. I still love to hear it switch over even with boost now, it's just another layer of awesome sound.
