yea, I've lost soo many 10mms and 12mms thats it's not even funny. I'm too poor to afford snapon, i just rock craftmans because i break wrenches like no tomarrow (use them as breaker bars) and sears is just a few mins away. Whats funny is sometimes im showing friends my motor, they find the 10s and 12s around the engine bay.

How the shit do you break sockets that much at work?
I've broken like 3-4 in my life, and one ratchet. Most of that was trying to get a badly seized shock mount off. I can't remember breaking a tool in the last few years on the many projects I've worked on. I also use Craftsman junk most of the time, too. Do they get like off brand "Hong Kong Special" tools?
Edit:
Wait, actually my buddy broke one of my sockets on his crank bolt being a dumb ass. I still don't know if I count that, though.

well i pick craftman tools because its easily returnable, and they worked well for me. Ofcourse i cant comment on how well snapon and mac tools are because i have never used them before. I have broken three 3/8'' craftsman wrenches on the same nut before (big axle nut). When i got to sears the guy was surprised that i broke that many but i got replacement ones. When you guys break snapon tools, do u guys have to mail them in? or is there a store around where you guys live that you can just take them to?

nobody in my shop brakes any snap on, matco, cornwell, or mac unless it is an old ass chrome socket that has been used on air tools for 20 years.
i have yet to brake any of my snap on, but i have broken cornwell torx

Snap-On makes great tools, no one questions that and I have a few selected Snap-On’s myself (Torque wrenches, air impacts, extra long extensions etc.) but to be honest, the average guy (myself included) need’ent spend the big $$’s on Snap-On when most Craftsman will do ya just fine…… If you make a living with your tools, then Snap-On is the way to go! For the rest of us; Craftsman…I’ve broke a few & they always hands me a new one! I think it’s a status thing, Snap-On is the best etc…..hell, I used to buy only because it was the “best” but then I sat down and though about how much I actually use those big $$ tools – not that much!
Craftsman - 80%
Proto
Mac
and yes, some Snap-On
BTW; I have 2 New IB Snap-On 3/8 Air Ratches (FAR72B - Brute Force) impacts....anyone intrested?

im more of a craftsman guy when it comes to sockets but for ratchets i use my snap on 3/8 drive and my mac 1/2 drive. i got 1 craftsman 3/8 air ratcher and IR impact 1/2 gun, another 3/8 matco air ratchet, and 3/8 craftsman air hammer and impact gun. my wrenches are all craftsman used for breaking shit loose and den i have my stubby and regular gearwrench sets. all my pliers and shit are all from harbor freght and they work fine. i really need a bigger box all my tools are cramped together. i pretty much have all the tools needed cept for a global fuel pressure kit and scan tool. but usally the shops i work for have all that stuff
best thing ive boughten is my craftsman bolt out set for stripped bolts. :clap

I got fed up with spending $150 on a 1/4" drive set of Snap on sockets just so they can be lost within a 6 month period. The ones I didn't lose were usually broken. I dismantle about 5 engines a day. My tool chest is a motly assortment of Snap on, Mac, Matco and Craftsman. They are all on par with the exception of thier airtools. With a good impact, you pay for what you get. I simply refuse to spend another $150 on a set of 20 sockets when the ones from sears for $29 will work the same and not kill my wallet. They both offr the same warranty and with the craftsman stuff, I can get the sockets replaced whenever I need to, not just when the guys come around in the tool truck like once a week. If you feel like you have to spend some gigantic amount of money on tools, do it. I just like the fact that I don't owe the tool guys $4000 for what I am using and still breaking and losing.
