the european civic vti-r had a oem d-series lsd tranny. Only one that I have heard of. If you want an lsd, then need to go quaife. Although a lot of people have had good luck with obx as long as they tore it down and inspected it first.

fuck. people in the crx forum were saying it was the Zc. witch i didnt think made much sence. i think i am going to go the obx route. as for the tear down/re-assembly of those.. what is involved? just make sure everything is torqued right and the threads are not stripped and re-assemble the same way it came apart?

I haven't heard of the zc having an lsd unless they were referring to some of the old d-series parts that mugen used to make back in the day, like their d-series headers. Would be a waste of time to try to track down parts like that.

as for the obx, yeah, you have to take it apart, make sure threads are not stripped and just put it back together with the cone washers oriented correctly. People have reported getting their obx diffs with the 2 case halves not even put together correctly.

the ZC had 2 trannies, one had LSD, one did not, you can tell by looking where the axles go, if you can see clean through it is LSD, if there is a bar in the middle, it is standard

A good way to go is Gearspeed. I have one of their trannies in my car. Comes with stock gear set for whatever year you like and a Quaife. You can get other upgrades as well. Mine is stock with just an LSD and it was $1800 shipped. They charge a couple hundred dollar core charge as well, but that gets returned as soon as the tranny is shipped back.

Ouch, $1800 is a lot for a D tranny. You can buy a brand new ITR trans for less than that!
The JDM D15B vtec had optional LSD, if you can find one of those you'll be in good shape. You might just try calling around to the JDM engine importers and see if they have one they'll sell you separate from the swap. Usually the entire JDM D15B swap w/LSD is about $1000 so that beats $1800 for just a trans. I know the Quaiffe is better but for real, it's just a D-series how great does it need to be.

The reason I was willing to pay that much is, the tranny comes with brand new internals. They're complete rebuilds with the Quaife LSD installed. You don't have to worry about whether someone beat the shit out of it before you got it.
