D16 ECU suggestion
hey guys, i haven't been on the boards for the longest time. i'm going to start getting my civic ready for next years solo2 nationals. i need to upgrade my ecu and want to go with the obd1 route as well. i need suggestions..
here's what i have so far:
-D16y7
-y8 intake manifold, port and polished
-y8 throttle body, bored completely through
-injen intake, k&n filter
-EX DC 4-2-1 header
-2.25" carsound cat relocated under the car (after the header)
-hayame catback
power train upgrades:
-ACT heavy duty clutch
-ACT heavy duty pressure plate
-7lb. flywheel.
after the power upgrades, the inside tire started spinning on hard corner exits.. i'm going to install a quaife lsd. with that said, i can add more power.. that's where the ecu/obd1 upgrade comes into play. that should complete what is allowed for my class.
thanks in advance

What exactly is it you want to know? I may just be missing the question.

i guess i didn't specificy.. my fault..
i know suspensions and setups.. but the engine department is just general knowledge.. i have no idea which specific ecu to get.. how it should be chipped, which harness to convert it to obd1.. all the specifics..

ok from the mods you listed, a chipped ecu is the best bet for you. Basicly its a p28 ecu(has to me a stick shift 92-95 civic ex/si) or you can also get a p06 and convert it to p28(again 92-95 non ex/si civic has to be stick)
now once you get the stock ECU you can send it out to get it chipped an setup for your car.
www.pgmfi.org explains EVERYTHING abut obd1 conversions and all of the options that are available to tune, there is alot to read BUT you will actualy know WTF is going on with an ecu after you read and you wont just nod when a tuner says something lol.

Ok get a P28 ecu and have it chipped with chrome. Disable vtec and tune.

To be honest, I don't think that a chipped ecu is going to buy you much. You have bolt-ons so the stock ecu can still get the job done.
if you are getting inside wheel spin, look into the suspension. Tweaking an end-link on your front sway bar can fix this. You also can't get a quaife for your d16y7 transmission. The quaife requires the 40mm bearings which are only available in the ex/si d-series transmissions (d16z6 & d16y8).

with this engine, i don't expect much gains from anything. but every little thing adds up.. i've experimented with intake filters, and my modified one yields the same hp as the best one i've tried, but bumps the tq. up by 3 ft. lbs.
dyno: 95 whp, 92 tq., with modified filter.. 95 whp, 95 tq. (this is with intake/exhaust only.. haven't dyno'd it yet with new setup)
i'm not expecting miracles, but i am trying to squeeze out every little drop. as long as it's not going to cost me an arm and a leg, it'll be ok..
as for the quaife lsd.. damn.. know of any for the d16 tranny? i'm looking for a 1-way, 1.5 if i have to, no 2-ways.
the swaybars are working properly with no binding. the endlinks were adjusted at full load. the car is corner weighed and balanced with me in the car. the tires have a lot of grip. i'm pulling over 1.1 g's through the corners.. at some point, the inside tire will not have enough weight to pull the car through all by itself.. i don't get much wheel spin, but it'll slip for a quick moment.. and that quick moment costs time.

k, so sounds like you already have a handle on the suspension stuff Also don't forget the little things like poly sway bar bushings. Also are camber kits allowed for the class that you run in? I didn't think that a ported intake manifold was allowed. Can you also add a cam?
For the differential, I think that phantom grip and the opm setup are your only options ( www.opmautosports.com ).
