d16z6 94 ex suggestions

My fiancee and I are gettin a spec v ser soon (gonna be hers) and im gonna have our 94 civic 2d ex all to myself. Motor is d16z6, 212k miles(very well maintained), has new radiator, ac condensor, u/d pulley, and the usual ignition tune ups. Right now, I've got an intake i got off a junkyard car on it. Short ram, makes lots of beautiful noise, and its got a K&n on it. Don't dis that thing.. my old h22 w/ a v2 aem didnt come close to making the beautiful "VRAHHHHHH" the d16 makes. anywho, Its a wussymatic, though i'd like to do an engine swap and put a manual tranny in.. i dont have the time nor the expense to do so. So after lurking the forums for a few months, i finally decided to ask you guys. Performance wise, what can i do that will give me another 20-30 hp? Car never has anything heavy in it, has nice avid t4 tires on the hub capped civic wheels, so it handles decently. Any input appreciated. I/H/E??

honestly if you want to add your self some hp you should throw a full exhaust on it from the headers back that deff should boost you up some. i have the same exact car and so far i put full exhaust skunk 2 manifold and a cold air and a ecu chip in it and it deff has some pick up.

They are 10MM bolts - not 12's. The computer in the EG is behind the passenger kick panel under the glove box. Why are you resetting the computer? Instead of resetting it to clear a code why not figure out why it is throwing the code - fix it and THEN modify the car? A IHE setup should be less than $1000 for GOOD - BRAND NAME parts. After you put some mods on the car - THEN TUNE your ECU. Tuning without mods will yield just about nothing. Keep us updated.

i knew why it was throwing out codes, tdc sensor and vtec oil switch, neither of which affect the timing or performance of the engine. So until i swap the motor for another d16 or somethin, im not worried about it. And thanks for the ecu tips

ANY codes for the distributor WILL cause a timing AND a performance issue - Most of the time not allowing Vtec to engage(LIMP MODE!)(if the ECU doen't know where/when the TDC timing event is it cannot make the car run more powerfully. It instead goes to a different less powerful set of fuel/ignition tables to keep you from damaging the motor). The vtec pressure switch - no switch - no vtec. So YES it does HURT PERFORMANCE. We are here to help you. Fixing the check engine lights and making sure they stay out is one of the BIGGEST performance issues you can have. No amount of upgrades would help you with the TDC code - It will still run with less power. The VTEC WILL NEVER engage without the switch working. (Hacking the wiring up might work but again brings up NEW problems.)
