the money spent to properly install one is better put towards sleeves. how much power are you trying to make?

They are a waste of money and in many instances are negative additions to an engine. If you are worried about your sleeves because of beaucoup de power (yes, how much are you pushing or intending to?), then put this money towards high quality sleeves as Snoopy said.
I don't want to get into the open vs. closed deck discussion, but blocks that were purposely and properly designed to be closed deck are fine and dandy, but an open decked block is not meant to be closed up by some cheap post production piece of metal.

How much power do you think you will eventually have?
The stock D series sleeves are pretty damn stout.

if you do go with the block guard, you need to install it then machine your cylinder walls after you install it not before

If you think you are going to be pushing 25psi, I would definitely get new sleeves and probably a lot more than just pistons and rods......I'm talking about a full build. Bearings, quality fasteners/studs, full valvetrain, high performance oil pump.......the whole nine yards.
And to be pushing 25 psi, you know your quarter mile time will be like 30 seconds unless you put at least $5k into suspension and traction components (probably more actually).
I think you need to sit down and really think what you want for this car. If your aspirations are for that much boost you cannot cheap out on anything.

The D-series engine is a GREAT engine to turbo. I'm tits deep into my turbo build right now. Do some searching around. Just by the question you posted you're CLEARLY not even the slightest bit ready to turbo. Read some of the posts I made recently about turboing the D. It isn't just something you do and slap it on and expect power.
You say you want to be pushing 25psi....Ok, thats nice. That really doesn't mean shit. Whats your power goals? I'm going to be at one bar (14psi) and 315whp. You need to do research and research. I don't just mean stay up late one night reading around. I'm talking months. I'm STILL finding stuff about about turbos. Do you even know what Turbo you plan to use to achieve this 25psi? Custom built or turbo kit? You will more than likely need a custom build turbo...meaning you buy all the parts and install it yourself. The car you have now is your daily driver right? How do you plan on rebuilding your engine as your DD? You can do like me and just buy a new engine, build it up then drop it in.
See, there is A LOT of research as far as turbo's go. Check for other Turbo forums. SHO is mostly N/A it seems and you wont get quite enough info for ya.

I didn't see that.
That just shows you're nowhere near ready. "EXPENSIVE STUFF"
There is more than just stuff.
Just to list a few things for the turbo alone that comes off the top of my head.
Turbo
Wastegate (if not internally gated)
BOV
Proper springs for each of the above
Oil Restrictor
Charge Pipes
Dump Pipe
Down Pipe
Manifold (there is no more header, and being at the power you want you cant you those little log manifolds which means more than likely you are going to loose your AC)
IC pipes
Intercooler (IC)
Bigger Exhaust piping
These are just a few things off the top of my head.
I'm not trying to be mean or harsh. I just hate seeing people jump into this (especially at your age) blow their engine to shit when they are already low on funds then they are out of the game completly.

I agree, I've been wanting to boost my accord, but the learning process is so important because if you do something wrong, bye bye car.
So just build up your engine, read up, and then boost.

you need to do a helluvalot more research before you touch your car in anyway. Anybody who knows anything about performance modification would never just list some random PSI number. PSI means nothing without atleast knowing turbo specs. so to say i want to run 25 psi is an open ended statement. 25 psi on a 3037s is alot different than 25 psi on a t3/t4 60 trim, or TD06sh-25g. so just slow down man and go read up on your car and plan a setup. asking random people on a forum will not get you reliable results, mostly opinions

haha he thinks that's exspensive?.... wait till he realizes that to build a a properly tuned honda that can reliably take 25 psi, tune it and put it to the ground, will cost well over 12K haha. the suspen | |
