E-85 Ethanol Gas 85%

Are 96-00 Honda Civics compatible to use the "new" E-85 gasoline?

it is recommended by the owners manual to use regular unleaded. i assume the newer kind has some othe rproperties than that of standard gasoline. i wouldn't stray from it.

yes it requires a special kind of car.

However...I bet you could just go to the dyno and tune it to accept E-85

I think it's like 110-120+ octane...would be badass for a turbo setup

one of the guys from our shop just finished converting his car over to run E85 - he has 91 Si hatch with LS-VTEC, Skunk2 cams, Skunk2 Intake, high compression pistons, etc. - tuned with Neptune - dynoed 210 whp all motor - car is street driven (setup for NHRA Street Stock) weighs 2350 lbs with driver and ran 13.9s at track elevation of 5000ft last Friday on first time out - to run the E85, you have to put about twice as much fuel into the engine - i think he finally settled on 550 injectors and has a huge fuel pump - E85 is not measured in octane, but it is equivalent to about 110 octane
