ecu question

i just got a hatch with a d16a6 in it

i was just lookin through it and saw it had a vtec ecu but it isnt vtec

and the rev limitor is only at 6k


can i buy a different ecu from a different non vtec d16 to raize my rev limiter?

More details man...what year & trim level is the car, what is the number on the ecu, etc.

If you don't have VTEC hooked up the ecu is most likely limiting you on purpose, with VTEC it would be around 7K.

i bought the car.. 95 hatch dx

it has a d16a6 in it.. no vtec solinoid or anything but a vtec ecu

idk the number on the ecu.. i'll have to check it when it isnt raining

Well don't assume it has a VTEC ecu until you see the proof on the box. A stock 95 DX redlines around the same rpm iirc...it may just be running on a P06.

the ecu has -vtec written on it.. but that doesnt mean anything


what should the numbers be if it is vtec or non vtec?

The middle 3 digits should say "P28", that would be an OBD1 sohc VTEC.
