engine oil diffrence??...
everytime when i do the oil change, i ask myself if i put the right oil in the engine. i also try a lot of engine oils, i.e. shell, esso, castrol....
but only 10w40 and 20w50 i put in the engine.
there is alot of comments of the oils, but in my experience, i only fine out that the castrol makes my teg a little "faster". the others are just like the same. and now, cuz my teg has made a 260000km distance, i put 20w50.
will that be the right one?
thank u for any comments that will be giving me.

You should be using 5w30, not 10w40 or 20w50. I prefer Mobil1. It is one of the better easily available oils.

First you need to understand what it all means
The first number is the cold weight "5"w30. The second number is the hot weight. Then you have to understand why they could be different for different engines. The reason is the engine clearences determine which oil to use. If your manual says 5w30, its because the people who engineered it know that the clearences require 5w30 oil.
Now if you're burning oil, at start up for example, you might want to try 10w30 oil, since its thicker cold than 5w30. If you're burning oil at high rpms, then you might want to try 5w50. But if you're not burning any oil, then stick with the recommended weight.
And then theres the whole conspiracy theory with 5w20 oil, which they are now using in most honda engines. This is the "super efficient oil" that has a lower weight when hot, hence less oil drag. But at what cost? Thats still being debated. Tests have shown that 5w20 wears your engine bearings faster since it provides less protection as a consequence of the increased efficiency. Did honda make the engine clearences different to compensate? Or should you really be using 5w30 when it says 5w20...

i agree, mobil1 is a great product for tha price.. if you have not ran synthetic in you vehical b4, id recommend throwing in sum "part" or "half" synthetic blends first. then tha next oil change after that, go fully synth.

Mobil1 or Royal Purple are the only two I will use. I just cant justify the price of Royal Purple anymore when its not doing anything Mobil1 wont do for me.

Honda oil is ok for new motors but as they age they tend to do better with more advanced oils. i would use 5W30 in the winter if you normally run 10W30. if you normally run 5W you're fine also if you run 10W but it doesn't get colder than 45 degrees very often then 10W is still fine. on the topic of oil anyone ever try Q horsepower?

I'm pretty sure (pretty sure) that it says 5w30 in the manual.
If i told you corn oil worked better, would you trust me over your user's manual?
