tech wrench failed emissions....cel=bad cat

I really need to get rid of my rejection sticker before i get pulled over and lose my license again. The car is a 97 civic dx so the cat is on the header. Does anyone know if there is an alternative to buying a new stock cat for $200. I really dont want to take the chance of buying a used one not knowing if its good or not. Im pretty much just wondering if there is an aftermarket cat i can use to get rid of my P0420 code (catalyst threshold below efficiency). I know its not my o2 sensors because ive read there pattern with my snap-on ethos scanner/data reader. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

if you go with the ex header you can move the cat to under the engine and buy an aftermarket cat suitable for your requirements

Yeah, ive considered the ex manifold already, i just sold a megan racing high flow cat that couldve went with it but i figured my ecu still wasnt gonna like that set-up. Does anyone here have a high flow cat on an obd2 and not have a cel. If that was the case i'd just buy an aftermarket header and cat. I just dont want to spend a lot of money on stock parts you know

nope if you use a high flow cat you will still have a code. if you really want to fix it and use a high flow cat. get a weld on O2 bung and weld it after the cat. but don't weld it so that the O2 is in the exhuast stream but instead just out of it. it will minamize the reading and alow the ecu to think that its within specs, passing your inspection. as long as they don't look for it
