First Step

Ok, so I finally got my parts car delivered. 98 DX coupe. 4" adjustable coilivers, (which I posted a reply in another thread about, they really need to be adjusted) full exhaust, (which will also need some customizing) short shift, some other added interior extras. with only 70k on it. I stole it for 200 bucks, totaled. Bent frame in a front end collision. Still has the $500 carbon fiber hood...cracked almost in half The engine is in perfect running condition. I plan on taking the engine and transmission out and and doing a mini me swap and putting it into my 98 EX Sedan. I know I have to make some adjustments for the knock sensor. My question is about the transmission. Is there any real differences in the transmissions between the DX and EX? If so, what am I to lose? Should I go through the trouble of swapping them out? Also, any other suggestions before starting on this project? I'll post pics sometime soon. The recent ice storm set me back a bit, and it couldn't have come at a worse time.

The guy I purchased the car from, said he would sell me the body kit he took off the day before the accident. Are the bumper covers and side skirts the same size from the coupe to sedan? I would assume, the bumper covers are, but I'm not sure about the side skirts. Sorry for the abundance of questions. All help is greatly appreciated.

First off... why are you swapping to a less hp motor?

Second... trany's might have slightly different gearing, but not positive on that.

Third... on the 5th gen the front bumpers and fenders are slightly different in shape and size between the coupe and sedan... they still bolt up but he body lines don't match up. I would think the 6th gen would be the same but I'm not positive. The side skirts probably will not fit since the sedan is going to be a little longer. Best thing to do is bring your car to the guy and test fit them before you get them.

ok....KEEP THE EX TRANNY! it is geared quite a bit lower than the dx, otherwise you can sell the ex tranny for about the price you bought the other car for! (~$200)

the bumper covers are the same, but the sideskirts are iffy... in either case, i wouldn't put a kit on my car, ever (again ).

which brings me to my questions... why are you doing a mini-me, when you have an ex already (aka, the real-me)? second, are you planning on putting the suspension from the coupe onto the 4dr?

My sedan has almost 150k on it, the DX engine just broke 70k...thats why I would swap the engine out. I'm keeping everything I take out of my car. I just wanted to know if I would lose a lot from the DX tranny. If the suspension will fit I'm going to put it on my car, if I can find out how to adjust it. The problem is this car is riced to hell and dropped to the ground and I'm not sure how to adjust it. I believe there is a certain tool that has to be used. As far as the body kit goes, he was getting rid of it for $50, but im debating on it. I wouldn't lose anything from the swap if I switch the heads right? And my transmission still shifts beautifully, no problems. So if it's worth it I will swap them out.
