General spec question for 90' DX

Wondering if anyone out there can give me some insight on the "biggest without altering the fender well" engine I can slap into a 90' Civic DX engine bay. As far as budget is concerned, I am looking to swap in and daily drive for now.
I have been eying B-series blocks, but I find that K-series are close to the same in price for high mileage.
Also, does anyone out there know a good place to find blown motors to build from the ground up? I'm in the greater Staten Island area of New York. Thank you!!!

a k-motor costs just a few bucks more than a b-motor. However there are a lot of additional costs on top of the k-motor. So a k-motor is only *HALF* the cost of a k-swap.

Question

What should I anticipate being new to the game beyond, fuel management, drive shafts, wire harness splice, engine/tranny mounting, and exhaust routing? Will I need the proper year model speedometer and instruments or will the splices offered by companies like Hasport suffice?

I am a competent engineer and I have sufficient time to do this build right. My goal in power is to make a daily driver road/track/rally potent. (I am personally trying to reach around the neighborhood of 300-350whp)
Although Honda is a new creature to me I chose an older model so that I might spend some bread without tapping into my own bread, know what I mean?
Any help is appreciated, thank you.
