i mistakenly got this motor as a replacement swap, it sux, the best you can do is run a y8 head on it with a p2p ecu, if u wanna run 13's u need to put a hell of alot of work into it, stripping the car for lighter weight(hx's are already lighter than regular civics), depending on ur tastes, go IHE as well as many more mods for an all motor setup, or go forced induction(turbo/supercharger) you can pick up a decent turbo setup for a reasonable price (cheep is not always good) and it will give u noticable power gains, but like i said it's all oppinion.

well, i've been told that the best thing is keep building the motor, pulleys, intake manifold, ect. and eventually upgrade to a y8 or z6 head, potential for the y5 is mythical, people have done it, but it's basically a motor built for economy in mind instead of performance.there arent many parts for the y5 in particular, many parts for other d-series engines do bolt up, but there is always the risk that something wont fit. I did see a good post somewhere about the y5 tho, if i find it i'll let u kno

yeah it does have roller rockers, but it's really not a performance engine, i'm havin all trouble with mine, but i'm running it on a p2p (yikes) so that explains my dislike of the y5, i had the y8 b4, and it was quicker.

allthough hx's are economy based and not performance they are not to far behind an ex. I have a cai and full exhaust and i can take a stock ex with no sweat. many ex parts bolt right onto the hx.
